For today's presentation on Flash Photography, we even touched on the use of snoots to put subjects under the spotlight!
The nice folks at Backscatter have given us some snoots for guests to try out, let's see how they do :)

We started with basic ambient light photography today: even a simple camera like the TG-6 can put the reds back in your shots, but you still have to get close. See the difference between the barrel sponges in the foreground and the background? Rule #1: get closer! :)

This week's Underwater Photography Workshop is underway! never mind the weather, we have a keen bunch of photographers here! Everything from big full-frame setups to simple phones in underwater cases, lets see what we can shoot :)

Calleen Rivas took first place in the Best Photo category, as judged by all the guests at CocoView this week. The diver's silhouette in this Sea Pearl was the clear favorite. Nice shot Calleen, sometimes simple really is best :)

Congratulations to Cheri Smith who took first place in the Judges Choice category, Most improved Photographer. Cheri was in the front row taking notes every day and trying out new ideas. This shot of two Spotted Drums took skill and most of all patience! Well done Cheri :)

One of the nice things about a workshop week is diving in a group for a change, and getting a picture of myself underwater :) Nice use of white balances Mandi!

It's pretty amazing what these new phone cases can do. Here's a guest using a macro wet lens for his iPhone, shooting a tiny drum. We're seeing more and more of these setups these days.
