As the co-organizer of this tournament, the Hong Kong Bodybuilding & Physical Fitness Sports Federation (HKBPSF) has always centered its mission on promoting inclusive sports popularization and expanding physical fitness development for diverse groups. Supporting this event marks a key milestone in the Federation’s diversified activity layout 🤝.
On September 13, 2026, the 2026 National Day Cup – 4th Greater Bay Area Floor Curling Invitational Tournament & Award Ceremony was successfully held in the gymnasium of Weide Foreign Language Experimental School, Gaoming District, Foshan 🏟️. This is the first time the series has been hosted in Foshan, following the previous three editions held in Hong Kong and twice in Shenzhen. It represents a new round of cross-city promotion for floor curling across the GBA, and a key phased achievement of the "GBA Inclusiveness" vision — originating in Hong Kong, radiating across GBA cities, and now taking firm root in Gaoming ✨.
Different from the Federation’s previous professional fitness competitions and coach training programs, co-organizing this floor curling event perfectly embodies its commitment to breaking sport boundaries and enriching its activity portfolio. The tournament drew over 400 on-site attendees, including more than 80 finalist athletes from multiple GBA cities competing in the grand finals 🥌. A spectator group made up of students and parents from Hong Kong and Macau totalled over 160 participants 👨👩👧👦. A public floor curling experience zone was also set up at the venue, where many local residents, teachers and students tried the sport firsthand, filling the whole venue with a vibrant, energetic atmosphere 🔥.
As a land-based accessible adaptation of traditional ice curling, floor curling fully preserves the sport’s core traits of strategic thinking and team collaboration, while removing the venue constraints of professional ice rinks. It is friendly to participants of all ages and supports inclusive engagement for people of all abilities ♿, which aligns perfectly with the Federation’s vision of promoting public physical fitness, making it an ideal platform to drive cross-regional sports exchanges among diverse groups.
