📝Letter to Thierry
Dear Thierry,
I was the Asian fan sitting behind Joe,
the one who kept high-fiving you during the shoot.
I m writing all of this because when I saw you, my mind went completely blank. Only after I got home could I process everything.
Your relationship with Arsène Wenger, Arsenal, and the young players around you taught me so much about life.
The first time I watched you was 2006 FIFA World Cup, France vs Brazil. That was also the year I started watching football and playing football.
Your style of play has never left my mind. You motivated me to play, to run, and to finish chances like you. One time I tried to shoot like you.I injured my hip. That was the moment I realised I cannot shoot like Thierry.I am not that kind of player like you.
You were so great that every forward who came after you at Arsenal had to carry comparisons.
We always hoped to see the next Henry.
But Thierry is Thierry.
There will never be another one.
We should be fair to the players who came after you.
After your playing career, your hustle still impressed me.
Your work as a manager, a pundit, a teacher, and someone who keeps giving back to football.
You never stopped working.
I come from a generation that is not always aggressive,
not always efficient,
not always quick to speak our minds.
But I also come from a generation of perseverance.
We do not give up on trying to connect with people.
Thanks to the internet, I can still write this here
and express how I feel.
Hope one day you can see this letter.
You gave me so much positive influence without even knowing it.
Thank you, Thierry.
