Maharlikans, Dinosaurs & Pot Bellied Pigs victorious in 6th Hong Kong Fat Boy 10s
Hong Kong, 2 May 2026.
More than 450 players and spectators from Hong Kong, Macau, the Greater Bay Area, and mainland China converged on King's Park in Tsim Sha Tsui for the sixth Fat Boy 10s Hong Kong, an annual rugby tournament hosted by the Pot Bellied Pigs RFC. It is the only rugby tournament in Hong Kong to run men's, women's, veterans', and domestic helper competitions side by side. The tournament also raised over HK$100,000 for charitable causes and rugby development in Hong Kong and across Asia.
The Maharlikans defeated HSBC's Wayfoong to win the men's competition and claim the Jed 'The Jedi' Thian Memorial Cup. The Discovery Bay Dinosaurs were, for the third year in a row, women's champions, defeating the Flying Pigs and were awarded the Mary Jane Turbo Memorial Cup. The host club provided the day's defining moment in the vet’s competition, where the Pot Bellied Pigs, under the captaincy of Olly Arthey, defeated SCAA CWB Rugby to lift the cup for the first time in several years. Titanic Pink won the helpers tournament, with the HK Scottish Dolphins taking 2nd place. Other participating clubs included Hong Kong Football Club, Sandy Bay, Hong Kong University, The Flying Kukris, Valley Mustangs, and barbarian players from Macau, the Greater Bay Area, the Philippines, and Fiji.
Event organiser and Club President Andrew Green said: "The calibre of the rugby, the charitable outcome, and the spirit in which the game was played were all world-class. Running four competitions side by side is genuinely difficult to organise, but it's the format that defines this tournament, and we wouldn't have it any other way." The match officials were led by Gabriel Lee-Lehner, whose international coaching background brought a standard of refereeing that participants and spectators alike singled out for praise. The Pot-Bellied Pigs thank long-standing sponsors DHL and AIC, Hong Kong China Rugby, for their continued support of the club and its activities, the staff at King's Park, referees, and volunteers who tirelessly support behind the scenes.
Club Chairman John Hamilton said: "The Pot Bellied Pigs have always been a club that takes the rugby seriously and takes itself lightly. The Fat Boy 10s captures both halves of that, and I think that's why it's so successful. We're a touring club at heart, and the tournament is our way of giving back. The loyalty of our Friends of the Piggies, year after year, is what makes this club what it is."
The seventh edition of the Fat Boy 10s Hong Kong Edition is already in planning for 2027.
