KarateMan Dojo
KarateMan Dojo – About us
While Traditional Martial Arts meets Sports Science
Our core members are all graduated from the University of Hong Kong in different specialties. Kitty Man, with her 1st honors degree in Sports Science and Leisure Management (2005), would like to integrate her knowledge into Karatedo, a traditional martial art as well as an Olympic Sport, to provide students with a better learning experience and more efficient system for training. Without respect, it will end up in a mess. Tradition taught us to respect our teachers but now we understand that there should be mutual respect. We emphasize respect to coaches, training partners, as well as beginners. It will give more interaction between all participants and coaches will better understand the students’ needs. While passive listeners seem to be role models of good students, we encourage the students to ask, to help each other, and share their knowledge. Coaches will observe whether the students can understand the skill not just by following an order and do the same, but when they tried with their own to perfect their techniques or when they share it with others. Individual difference and learning progress. We understand all of us are born as unique individual, with different strength and weaknesses. We will design a program of each of our students and provide them with a target that suit them best. Safety, all parents’ concern. Besides providing a safe environment, with mats and protective equipment for our students. More importantly, we will help our students to develop their sense of awareness to danger, so that they will know how to react accordingly. With more than 20 years of engagement in Karate, our coach has been a full-time athlete in the Hong Kong team and represented Hong Kong in World Championships, Asian Championships, and National Championships. Then she became the assistant coach for the HK team and getting involved with elite training with more oversea training experience. As a graduate from HKU, she also helps to coach the U-Team training and achieved great results. That is why we have a connection with the top-level players as well as the Karate partitioner from HKU.
