Well done April and Ella! ๐ŸŽ‰โ›ธ๏ธ

This was April's first competition at the Thailand Open Interclub. Stepping onto the ice with courage and determination, a big jump considering she was only in Beta last November. Ella returned stronger, performing a clean skate with more confidence than previous and landed her first axel in competition!

Proud of both of you for showing up and improving with every run. Letโ€™s keep training, keep refining, and work even harder for next time! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’ช

Double Salchow Tips

Keyne from Canada will be our example for today. She visited HK for Spring Break and got a couple lessons in with us before flying back. The main focus was to improve the consistency of her 2S.

Fixing the takeoff was the key to success for the above example. By using progressive exercises, different aspects of the takeoff can be worked on separately and be build upon.

๐ŸŒŸThe exercises touch on:
- feeling the toe pick & blade position as the jump happen
- the direction of the takeoff
- stable upper body control to jump instead of swinging

The result produced a much better jump "arc" with the takeoff due to a more efficient weight transfer. Not only is the jump easier to land, there's more flow coming out it as well.
