Thinking vs. Thoughts

Thoughts are automatic. They arise on their own—fast, frequent, and often without our control. Research suggests we have around 6,000 thoughts a day, not just a couple of hundred.

But here’s the key distinction:
having a thought is not the same as engaging with it.
It’s when we start thinking about a thought—analyzing it, judging it, replaying it—that it gains emotional power. That’s when the spiral begins.

One passing thought like
“I’m not good enough”
can turn into overthinking, self-doubt, and anxiety—simply because we CHOSE to follow it.

The mind produces thoughts.
But we DECIDE which ones deserve our attention.

The control is ALWAYS with US!

This idea is beautifully explored in Joseph Nguyen’s work—reminding us that peace isn’t about stopping thoughts, but about getting back control.

As I prepare for our *Mom vs AI* conversation this evening, I’m noticing how easy it is to get caught in the noise—ideas, expectations, to-do lists, and the constant mental juggling that comes with both motherhood and building something meaningful.

So this morning, I’m choosing to center myself first reading a few lines from this book. To quiet the mental chatter, even just a little. Because how I show up tonight won’t come from a crowded mind—it will come from a grounded, present heart 💙

Maybe that’s the real balance we’re all searching for. Not between mom and AI, but within ourselves .
