Hong Kong Outrigger Canoe Club Outrigger canoe racing is a fast growing sport in Hong Kong! So, if you are dragon boating it is the perfect sport to pick up, once the season is over in June!

Hong Kong Outrigger Canoe Club (HKOCC) is an active paddle club with more than 50 members from all walks of life, who paddle year-round and compete in exciting races held annually in Hong Kong, Hawaii, Australia and the rest of the world. Most of the local OC races (Classic Lantau, Around Lamma Island, Around Po Toi Island, Around Hong Kong Island) are in the autumn. In September 2014, HKOCC women

's crew ranked 15 in the open category in Hawaii, at the Molokai to Oahu Canoe Race, which is considered to be the world championship of outrigger canoeing. (to get a better idea watch: http://youtu.be/DFMSIBrURKY)

But is not only about racing.... Paddling in an outrigger canoe gets you far out to sea into a truly oceanic environment amongst the swells, the colors of the ocean, the seabirds and the dolphins. The motion of the canoe, the slap of the ama as it slides over an ocean swell and the great sense of harmony that you can achieve, lost in the rhythmic pulse of your paddling, is a feeling that truly transcends time. The Club is based at Stanley Main Beach by the Sea School. Currently the training schedule is:
Tuesday/Wednesday 6.00am- 7.30am
Thursday 7.30pm- 9.15pm
Saturday/Sunday 9.00am-11.00am

It was great to have ex-HKOCC paddler come out for a paddle while he’s in town from Aotearoa. Stanley put on the weather for him - he lives in Windy Wellington so we obliged with some nice wind today! 😆💨

Great training session today crew! And sometimes we do just need a sneaky pick me up in our coffee after a big water session! Out around Cape D'Aguilar the waves were around 2-4m! Lots of yeeha moments!!
