A special shout out to Issey Maholo, the original Ampcontrol Discovery Bay goalkeeper at last weekend's HKFC Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens. Issey, a DB resident was having an outstanding tournament before unfortunately getting injured in the last game on the Saturday. After a short trip to the hospital for some scans, Issey was allowed home and is now on the mend. We hope to see him back in action again next year...

Before the HKFC Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens competition started in earnest on Friday night, the Ampcontrol Discovery Bay captain, Anders Navas, along with Tim Bredbury and Mike Collier from the coaching staff, attended the Captains Photocall at the Park Lane Hotel in Causeway Bay.

Also in attendance was the weekend's guest of honour, Liverpool and Rangers legend Graeme Souness, who along with Tim Bredbury, was interviewed by our very own social media guru, Olivia Brown.

Our amazing stand in captain for the final of the HKFC Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens Masters Tournament. Over the course of the tournament he managed to play defence, midfield and in goal. Add to that a cheeky nutmeg, a diving header goal and stepping up when he was the goalie to slot home a cool penalty, we’d say it was not a bad weekend’s work 💪🏆🍾

Fantastic win for Ampcontrol Discovery Bay at this year's HKFC Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens lifting the Masters Tournament Cup for the first time since 2018.

The team were in complete control throughout the group stage, comfortably beating Wallsend Boys Club HK 2-0, HKFC Masters 1-0 and Yau Yee League All Stars 1-0 to progress to the semi-final. There they met a stiffer challenge against Singapore Football Club Masters, having to fight back from a goal down to eventually win 2-1. The team saved some of their best football for the final, where they once again comfortably beat Wallsend Boys Club HK to lift the trophy.

DBFC played their final game of the season on Monday night 17 June 2024 at KGV School against Godfathers and came away with a 4-4 draw.
Both teams had secured their positions in the league so there was only bragging rights to play for. Nevertheless, it was an exciting encounter where both sides stepped up to give it all.
DBFC took early control to go 2-0 up after 20 minutes before Godfather’s hit back either side of a DBFC third goal. HT 3-2 to DBFC. Second half DBFC got their fourth Goal before tired legs in the final 10 minutes of the game allowed Godfathers to score 2 goals to draw the game 4-4 at final whistle. DB 45s took on lowly Revolution in their penultimate game of the epic 23/24 legal league season. With Captain Woz having completed his transfer to England, the evergreen Morse took charge of the bare XI who fancied a night out at KGV.

DB were fully in control from early on with Nik's finish from the edge of the box and French David capping his debut (or, as they like to say in France: 'debut') with a goal.

In the second half, Baz finished off an almost well worked free kick, he then set up a tremendous volley by our right winger, before Nik hit the 5th to secure a tidy three points in a well spirited game.

Initial disappointment had a silver lining for Ampcontrol DB who came through to win the Masters’ Plate at HKFC Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens 2024, held May 24 to 26. The team lost Friday night’s game 2-0 to HKFC Masters. On the Saturday, they won 1-0 against PFA All Stars (eventual cup winners), but drew 1-1 with HKFC Chairman’s Select. Finishing third in their group, Ampcontrol DB went on to beat Singapore Cricket Club Masters 2-0 in Sunday’s plate semi-final. On Sunday afternoon, they dominated the plate final against Kowloon Cricket Club eventually winning the title 2-1 in sudden death penalties. Ampcontrol DB would like to thank their sponsors Lippmann Lee (Ampcontrol), Matija Maretic (Marvelsoft), Craig Barnett (The Chippy), Rafael Lopez (606), Tim Drew (Tanner De Witt) and Bonnie Chan (CTC).
