PGSA Soccer Team, founded in 2000, is a football organization open to all postgraduate students from the University of Hong Kong. Experiencing a two-year suspension period, the team was rebuilt by a group of post-graduate students in HKU, most of whom are PHD students. The team welcomes postgraduate football lovers from HKU at all levels by providing a platform where people enjoy football,
strengthen mutual bonds and deepen their understanding of the diversified and prosperous HKU family. Meanwhile, the team participates in the competition and friendly games both inside and outside HKU as a way to forge the link between postgraduate students from different backgrounds to local communities in Hong Kong, as well as promote the positive image of HKU postgraduate society. So far, PGSA Soccer Team has won the indoor football championship of the University of Hong Kong twice. In 2019, the team also joined the JFC Youth International Football Championship in 2019 and entered the quarter-final. With more than 80 players, PGSA Soccer Team is currently operated under a team committee with 9 members, including chairperson, coaches and Secretary of internal and external affairs. whose responsibility concerns daily management, recruitment, trainings, match organizing and media promotion of the team. At present, the team has opened accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Wechat Public Platform and BiliBili, and updated relevant information of the team at the first time, including player introduction, competition briefing and other relevant information. At the moment, PGSA Soccer Team has two regular trainings and two regular games each week for players at different levels. Chiu Chun Kit, a former Hong Kong Premier League player, as our external coach. In the upcoming months, PGSA Soccer Team will participate in Lisong Cup, organized by Hong Kong Grassroots Sports Development Association, which we believe will consolidate the mutual connections between Hong Kong’s local community and the HKU postgraduate family.
