Vivian Leung and Mark Welles hit the water this weekend, competing in the Mixed Double (Mix2x) at the 2nd “Round Disneyland” Race in Shanghai! 🇨🇳

Hosted by Shanghai Dianshan Lake Rowing Club, this unique 10km course pushed crews through 6 bridges and 4 tight turns around Shanghai Disneyland.

With 27 boats on the course and crews setting off in head race style every 3 minutes, conditions were perfect: cool, cloudy skies and a helpful tailwind.

Despite an equipment issue that cost them a podium spot, Vivian and Mark powered through to an impressive 5th place finish 💪

🔥 Already looking ahead and hoping to return next year with an even bigger RHKYC crew!

What a week for RHKYC Rowing — Vogalonga, 24 May 2026!

Our crews set off from San Marco, winding through the lagoon and past Rialto and Punta della Dogana, soaking up the energy along the way.

36 km of sun, salty spray, and smiles, alongside thousands of boats celebrating Venetian rowing and tradition.

Huge thanks to everyone who organised, repaired, coxed, and cheered — it was true team spirit that carried us all the way to the finish. Until next year!

VOTE NOW for Club member Chiu Hin Chun #28 in the Cathay Hong Kong Sports Star Awards!

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Chun has represented the territory at senior level since 2013.

A double Olympian, he raced in the double scull at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the single scull at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Although a lightweight, Chun competed in the heavyweight events at the Olympics (there is no lightweight category), giving away 10–20 kg to most opponents and finishing an impressive 20th of 33.

Internationally, he has achieved podium finishes at the Rowing World Cup, the Asian Rowing Championships and the Asian Games. Locally, Chun can be seen racing in RHKYC colours each year at the Hong Kong Rowing Championships.

His performances have helped sustain Hong Kong’s tradition of producing world‑class rowers. By voting for Chun, you will help promote rowing in Hong Kong and encourage future generations of athletes.

Whilst voting, you need to vote for five people total so please also include Club sailing member Nick Halliday #29!
