2004年鄧宏業在黃金寶引薦下，接受香港隊教練沈金康指導，成為全職車手，也讓他的人生有了一百八十度的大轉彎。熱愛單車的鄧宏業曾想過於2007年環南中比賽奪得冠軍以後退役, 但在黃金寶鼓勵之下, 希望能於單車生涯上更上一層樓, 其後參加2009年東亞運男子個人公路自行車賽獲得金牌。

鄧宏業現為Total Sports Team 車隊經理。
