1.What is your name and where do you live? Nate Furbee, I live in Los Osos CA.
How old are you and how long have you been riding? I am 17, and have been riding bikes since I was 3. So fourteen years now.
How long have you been racing? About 5 years.
What class are you racing? Cat 1 Junior expert 17-18

Your first downhill oriented bike? Trek Diesel

Is the riding good in your area? Very good.
Where are some of your favorite trails? There are a few, I like Rockgarden, F@ #$, and Tower.
What type of features do you like the best on the trails you ride? I like steep tracks, berms and ruts, but rocks are fun too.
Which racecourses do you like best you have raced on? Mont Saint Anne is my favorite course, but Port Angeles was fun as well.

1. What is your name and where do you live?

My name is Loic Bruni. I live in the south of France, in a town named Cagnes-sur-Mer, close to Nice.

2. How old are you and how long have you been riding?

I’ve been riding a bike before walking but I raced my first race at age nine; it was a MOM AVALANCHE and the only race of the year! In the beginning I was riding cross-country, trail and BMX, but DH was the most fun.

3. How long have you been racing bicycles?

I really started racing at 13 with a regional series of races on enduro bikes, it was amazing with the friends, I have so many good memories.

4. What race series are you competing in for 2014?

For 2014 I will race the full world cup series, world champs, some French races that I like, maybe a few IXS. I know Blenky wants to race the one in Schladming, so… !

5. What was you first bike?

My first bike was a yellow Sunn with no suspensions, but my first ‘downhill’ bike was a Devinci home made by my father and my uncle with several broken frames, it was a sick bike! I broke it five times but my uncle always welded it back together.

6. Your first downhill oriented bike?

The first one was a Sunn Radical, such a good bike really maneuverable. I did my first top ten in French cup with this bad boy.

7. What bikes do you currently ride/race?

A Lapierre Pendbox DH Team, the best I’ve rode. We worked a lot on it, now we have found the best things we could find to improve it.

8. What are some of the strong points of the current Lapierre frame you are racing?

Really stable, light, 27.5 compatible, a lot of possibilities of settings, working mint!

9. What type of riding do you usually do?

I do BMX and downhill only with friends, so I never really ride full speed home cause the tracks are dangerous and I need to be between tapes to push. I do some road riding but I don’t really enjoy it cause it’s always for training.

10. Is the riding good in your area and can you ride year around?

Yeah, there is good riding here for sure. We don’t have too much snow in the winter, we have some really good tracks that we can ride and they are easy to shuttle. San Romolo is a one-hour driveand it’s an amazing place for riding. I went to NZ last year so I experienced what riding paradise was like but it’s a little bit far!

11. Where are some of your favorite trails?

San Romolo, of course. My private track built with Guillaume Cauvin. I like trails in New Zealand such as those in Queenstown, Rotorua, the bike park in Nelson where Dodzy’s memorial race was. Innerleithen and some tracks in Les Gets are good too.

12. What type of features do you like the best on the trails you ride?

I like small jumps and bumps, technical but fast stuff, good dirt, not too tight, not too pedaling… and everything that makes you smile in your helmet; like a beautiful landscape track.

13. Which racecourses do you like the best of the ones you have raced on?

I love Windham, it’s so sick to ride. Andorra is too, it’s really technical and flowing. I like Chamery, when the storm is not here, it is amazing. New Zealand cup tracks and few French ones like Lourdes and Superbesse.

14. What races do you plan on attending next year?

All the World Cups, no waist and World Champs… more consistency.

15. What sponsors do you currently have?

Lapierre bikes, Schwalbe, Easton, Bell helmets, Ride 100 percent, O’neal, Muc off, SRAM, Rock shox/avid, SDG, Crank Brothers, e13, les Gets. I would like a sportswear one so bad!

16. Are their any areas you think could be improved on the current genre of downhill mountain bikes?

Yes a lot, but it’s always a lot of work pretty much for free so not too many people are kind to shape and kill their back. But every mountain or hill has potential; you just need a road to drive up, or a lift and go!

17. Is Enduro riding/racing something you are currently doing?

I always rode enduro for fun so I’m not able to ride it really fast on the EWS, it looks like downhill but on enduro trails so… The best enduro for me are megavalanche and maxiavalanche, but the medias control and EWS is fashion at the moment and the races are actually good and physically hard so it’s good for enduro people, but for me enduro is not easy for racing.

19. Some people have been saying UCI World Cup courses being set up for video coverage at the sacrifice of steepness and technical riding?

Yeah, true. I understand it; it’s important for the sport too so a little bit is ok, but too much is not good for us. But when the track is s**t they usually work on it for the year after.

18. Any shout out to people that have helped you along the way?

Yeah. My Dad first, of course my all riding friends of US Cagnes and family, Team Lapierre staff like Jack, Laurent and Cyril, my coach, and all the top riders for setting the example.

Thank you for your time.

The all new TR500 has been designed from the ground up to be lighter, faster and stronger. All new suspension kinematics keep the bike higher in the travel for more available wheel travel and improved small bump and big hit sensitivity. We have simplified the adjustment options for easier geometry changes and no spare parts to lose. Proven and comfortable geometry with a new XL size for the tall guys or anyone looking for a little more length in their ride.

Now with two travel settings, the TR500 is our most versatile TR bike ever. Single crown or dual crown builds work equally well with the 180mm and 203mm travel options. Geometry settings for high speed stability and control on technical, steep downhill tracks or a nimble and playful feel on machine built jump and flow trails. With the TR500 you have all the options you need to dial in your bike for your unique riding style.

Young, talented and dedicated to his sport, at only 20 years old, Faustin FIGARET displays a quite impressive level of professionalism. His 2013 international results (14th in Vallnord and 26th in the World Cup overall ranking) are the proof he still has a big progression margin.

For these reasons, COMMENCAL decided to support him for the next two seasons and believes in him more than ever.

Welcome to COMMENCAL Faustin FIGARET!

Here are a few words from those concerned:

- So Faustin, are you stoked on that?
“Yes, I’m very happy to have signed with COMMENCAL. I have received a warm welcome, I’m feeling good in this family atmosphere and I’m stoked on what the staff is providing!”

- After some riding with your new rig, how are you feeling?
“I’m feeling very comfortable on it, the bike is very good at everything and performs great! I still need to work on a couple of settings to start off the season with a WARRIOR MACHINE!”

- How is your 2014 preparation going on?
“I’m working really hard with 2F Sports and I’m already feeling the difference. Everything is planned so that the upcoming season goes well. I’m feeling confident and can’t wait for the first races to start!”

A few words from the Boss:

- Max COMMENCAL, why choosing Faustin FIGARET?
“I was always willing to win races, everyone knows that, while finding out and helping new talents. Faustin is still very young and finishing in 14th in Vallnord last summer foreshadows a bright future. In addition to that, Faustin is a very conscientious, hard-working boy, which makes us believe he can fulfill his dreams and ours.”

- Last year, Remi THIRION won his first World Cup in Vallnord on a COMMENCAL bike. We can only wish him the same future, can’t we?
“No doubt that with the Riding Addictions and especially Remi THIRION, they will know how to motivate themselves altogether to face the big teams in the competitions where the level keeps increasing gradually.”

- Will COMMENCAL be stronger than ever for 2014?
“All our riders can count on us to get things done and provide the gear they need to perform. Our partnership with BOS is getting bigger and bigger. We are about to live an incredible adventure!”

Remi THIRION also comments Faustin’s arrival:
“Faustin is a young rider who wasn’t necessarily on the first spots when he started racing downhill, but he persisted and found what was missing him over the season. He worked hard to improve his fitness. Regarding of that, there’s no secret; I went over that too. He has good riding skills so I think he can do very well.”

Hyline Productions, the Maxxis Gravity East Series and the POC Eastern States Cup present the 2014 Duryea Downhill, May 3-4 in Reading PA. The Duryea Downhill Race is held on Mount Penn and ends in City Park, Reading PA. While started as a local race in 2003 the Duryea Downhill has grown into a national event with World Cup racers in attendance.

“It’s a new dawn, it’s a new age”, says Fred Heinly of Hyline Productions. “We have done the previously unthinkable by bringing together the two largest downhill mountain bike racing series in the United States for our big event. The Duryea Downhill will be contested for the tenth time this season and we are adding new features while keeping the famous Road Gap and Bunker Gap. We are really excited to be the first race that East Coast racers can earn series points from the GES and the ESC.”

The Duryea Downhill brings the action to the masses, instead of being held at a ski resort it is contested within the Reading, PA city limits. Racers will be transported to the start in shuttle trucks Saturday and Sunday for practice, with the big race being held Sunday at 1pm.

“The POC Eastern States Cup is really thrilled to be part of the Duryea Downhill and working with the Maxxis Gravity East Series. The Duryea DH is the most unique downhill race in the country and it’s a great chance at some early season racing. This is the first race of our new Atlantic DH Cup Division and an awesome opportunity for east coast racers to score points in both series.” says George Ulmer from the POC ESC.

“The Maxxis Tires Gravity East Series is very excited to continue it's partnership with Hyline Productions and enter into a new partnership with the Eastern States Cup in the presentation of the 2014 Duryea Downhill” said Joe Olivas, race director of the 2014 Maxxis Tires Gravity East Series. “By bringing together the two powerhouses, we hope to continue a spirit of comraderie and competition for all riders in both series for the growth of the category on a national level.”

The Duryea Downhil is a season opening mountain bike festival with tons of spectators, give aways, entertainment, Saturday night activities and a food / beverage court.. You won’t want to miss this event, so please preregister. The field is limited to the first 250 racers and a sell out is expected.
