The classes concern students and professionals of over 15 years old.
Keiko Okawa was born in Japan (Chiba).
She started her ballet training at Aurora ballet school in Japan, and afterwards she moved to Germany to study at Hochschule für musik und darstellende kunst Frankfurt
and graduated with her diploma degree with high score.
She danced in many theaters such as Staatstheater Mainz, Pfaltztheater Kaiserslautern, Theater Nordhausen, Staatstheater Augsburg.
She danced Choreographies such as “Romeo and Juliet” as Juliet, “No thumb”, “Carpe diem”, “Swan lake”,”Raymonda”, “Sleeping beauty”,”Etude” by Pascal Touzeau, “Minus 16” danced main duet by Ohad Naharin, “Second detail”, “In the middle of somewhat elevated” by William Forsythe, “Indigo rose” by Jili Kylian, “Dream play” by Johan Inger, “Aura”,”EX NIHILO”, “Raw models” by Jacopo Godani, “A sweet Spell of Oblivion” by David Dawson, “Same time tomorrow” by James Satherland, “7.8” by Georg Reischl, “Romeo and Juliet” as Juliet By Ivan Alboresi, “Bolero” by Ricardo Fernando, among others.
After her carrier as a dancer she did a transition to work as a ballet mistress at Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, She also directed a “MOVE” project.
She was invited to teach company classes and contemporary workshops at many companies and schools such as Staatstheater TanzMainz, Staatstheater Giessen, Hochschule für musik und darstellende kunst Frankfurt, Aurora ballet school, K-Grace Ballet school among others.
She has won in several dance competitions such as “International dance competitions in Tokyo” second prize, “DAAD artist completion” first prize, “International ballet competition in Tokyo” and many others.
She joined Staatstheater Kassel as Jungestheater dance pedagogy from Spielzeit 2023/24.
Currently working as a rehearsal and training director at Tanz_Kassel since March 2024.
