We offer 1, 2 and 3 hour horse treks in the surrounding countryside and to the turtle beach at Mounda. We cater for both experienced riders and beginners. So if you are looking for something different to do whilst you are here in Skala, here it is! We cater for both exper
ienced riders and for beginners. The treks cost 20 Euros per person per hour for between 1 and 5 people. For just one person, the cost is 25 Euros per hour. Treks are available between 8am and 11am each day and between 5pm and 8pm each day. These are the cooler times of day which is best for both horse and rider. All treks start and end at the Riding Stables on the edge of Skala. A 1 hour trek will take you along quiet roads and tracks to Mounda Beach and back. A 2 hour trek will take you to Mounda Beach, as above and it will also provide enough time for you to trek along the beach itself. A 3 hour trek will enable you to explore more of the wild areas in the hills around Skala. Please wear comfortable clothing with long trousers if possible and shoes, trainers or boots - no high heels. We provide riding hats. For children under the age of 14 we also provide safety jackets. We offer 20 minute horse and carriage rides in Skala. We are located next to the Taxi Station on the beach front. We are normally here every evening between around 6.30 and 10pm. On busy summer evenings we often operate until midnight. We have an open-topped traditional horse carriage which can carry up to 6 people. We also have a stunning Victorian Carriage with plush red seating for up to 4 passengers. People comment that they feel like royalty in the carriages! We hope you will enjoy a carriage ride with us during your stay. It is lovely way to travel on a hot summer evening as the sun is setting :)
Our two horses Hector and Rosa are specially trained for the carriages. They are strong, fit and healthy Greek horses. They are very popular with visitors and have even become famous on Trip Advisor! Please come over and say hello, the horses are very friendly (and so are we)! The carriage rides cost 10 Euros per peron for the traditional carriage and 15 Euros per person for the Victorian Carriage. Children under the age of 12 travel for only 5 Euros each. Finally, we have 3 rescue horses that we rescued from owners who treated them badly. They are very lucky horses and would not have survived without us. They have received a lot of care and attention to help their recovery and if you have any spare Euros at the end of your trip, these are always welcome to help us look after the horses, thank you.
