Another amazing season comes to an end 💙

This one felt extra special… maybe our best so far. We were more confident than ever, surrounded by returning friends who now feel like family, and sharing our love for the sea every single day.

This year, Alberto joined the team!!
He didn’t just adapt, he was already part of H2O. With his experience, energy, ideas, and passion, he helped us grow and upgrade the whole experience to another level!

We couldn’t be more grateful for all the dives, the laughs, and the sunsets shared🔥

🙏Μια απροσδόκητη συνάντηση που διδάσκει...

📍Πρόσφατα, μια ευαισθητοποιημένη πολίτης, η κα. Ματίνα Σταυροπούλου, μας ενημέρωσε για ένα λυπηρό περιστατικό: λουόμενοι στην ακτή Λαγονησίου, από φόβο για το άγνωστο, θεώρησαν κάποιους θαλάσσιους οργανισμούς επικίνδυνους εξoντώνοντας μάλιστα προληπτικά έναν από αυτούς.

🔎Όπως εξηγεί η Δρ. Μαρία Σαλωμίδη Maria Salomidi, Ερευνήτρια Θαλάσσιας Οικολογίας του ΕΛΚΕΘΕ, πρόκειται για το είδος 𝐴𝑝𝑙𝑦𝑠𝑖𝑎 𝑑𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑦𝑙𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑙𝑎 - γνωστό και ως "θαλάσσιος λαγός". Πρόκειται για έναν εντελώς ακίνδυνο και άκακο* θαλάσσιο γυμνοσάλιαγκα. Η αντίδραση των λουομένων, όσο κι αν ο φόβος είναι κατανοητός, είναι άδικη. Το συγκεκριμένο είδος είναι αργό (σαν γυμνοσάλιαγκας), δεν έχει επομένως καμία δυνατότητα αιφνίδιας επίθεσης ή έστω διαφυγής.

🦠Μοιραζόμαστε αυτόν τον γαλάζιο πλανήτη με εκατομμύρια άλλα είδη ζωής, τα περισσότερα ούτως ή άλλως σε εμάς άγνωστα, κάθε ένα ωστόσο μοναδικό και κομβικό για τη γήινη ισορροπία, παρέχοντας πολύτιμες υπηρεσίες που εμείς τείνουμε να θεωρούμε δεδομένες (όπως καθαρισμός και απορρύπανση, ρύθμιση ατμοσφαιρικού αέρα, ρύθμιση κλίματος, προσφορά τροφής και πολυάριθμων ακόμα φυσικών αγαθών).

✅Η συμβουλή μας: Εάν στις καλοκαιρινές εξορμήσεις σας συναντήσετε κάποιες άγνωστες μορφές ζωής, κατά πάσα πιθανότητα πρόκειται για φίλους και συμμάχους σας στην επιδίωξη μιας υγιούς και καθαρής θάλασσας. Ακίνδυνοι ή όχι, κρατήστε σε κάθε περίπτωση τις αποστάσεις σας, επιτρέψτε τους το χώρο και το σεβασμό που αναλογεί σε κάθε οικοδεσπότη, και απολαύστε την σπάνια και μοναδική ομορφιά που απλόχερα μοιράζονται μαζί σας.

❗*ΠΡΟΣΟΧΗ! Δεν καταναλώνουμε και δεν ακουμπάμε τίποτα που δεν γνωρίζουμε, ελάχιστα είδη μπορούν να γίνουν επιθετικά, τα περισσότερα ωστόσο γνωρίζουν καλά από άμυνα: το είδος 𝐴𝑝𝑙𝑦𝑠𝑖𝑎 𝑑𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑦𝑙𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑙𝑎 είναι τοξικό εάν (και μόνο εάν) καταναλωθεί!!

By now you know we loooove small stuff… and look what we found on one of our dives!

Say hi to this fabulous little flatworm 🫓🐛
Prostheceraeus roseus!
Officially, pink is the color of May, and this cutie is totally on trend.🌸🌸

At just 2–3 cm, it’s easy to miss, but up close, it’s a showstopper with its soft pink body, white racing stripes, and wavy purple-edged “wings.” It even has two adorable little tentacle-like projections at the front!

These flatworms live on rocks, seaweeds, and sponges between 5 and 50 meters deep, and they’re carnivores.

Bonus fun fact? They’re hermaphrodites and exchange s***m by literally stabbing each other with a needle-like organ during mating. Romantic, right?
