A fun filled 3 days of DofE assessing. You get to work with some great people and the kids were fantastic.
If you're used to a 9-5 job, the hours are a little odd. I was also on pastoral care for the 2 nights.
Thurs 11am - 9pm
Fri 6am - 8pm
Sat 6am - 2pm

Being an instructor for DofE students allows me to see some beautiful parts of the country, especially in the Peak District.

Last week I was doing a Gold practice expedition with 2 great groups of students over 4 days ⭐

The weather was pretty miserable at times but there was a few hours of sun! 🌞☔

2 lots of boot replacements and a duct tape rucksack repair all in a day's work! Plus the tent drying in-between check points. 🥾

Also, lots of cows in the White Peak ..they were all friendly 🐮🐮

Last weekend we did the OMM Lite again. It's such a fantastic event and the baby sister to The OMM in October.

Saturday was scorchio, me and Kial managed 240 points 29km with 1,800m ascent with 8 minutes to spare putting us mid table.

Sunday, I was soooo tired but I ate my way through it. With an hour to spare we decide to risk going the long way around the lake to gain 70 more points...it worked, we came in with 2 minutes to spare, maintaining our mid position.

Great team work despite not being mountain fit! Until next year...

Bank holiday we were humbled....the initial plan: to walk on a bearing of 97 across open moorland in the Peak for 12miles.

We were in to plan Z by then end of the day! But a great day out none the less.

We were humbled.

The aim: straight line on a bearing, the longest distance across the Peak District across open access land without crossing a road.

After 2 hours of slooow moving 2.5 miles in 30C heat we moved to plan B, then C, then D.

The second aim: just to get back to the car at the finish.

The third aim: just to get home before 10pm 😂

Baby garden spiders and cardinal beetles. Curiousity did not kill the cat, but with a bit of research I now know what baby garden spiders look like and what eats them!
