In a digital world that is taking in charge of our lives in many ways Olympic sailing is still a sport that senses,feeling, instinct and emotions are heavily involved helping us adapting to a constant changing environment. Practice, learn from experience, sharpening and managing these skills can increase performance massively creating steep learning curves. This pick is back in 2008 with , Carlos Espinola and sailing against each other at Tornado Europeans in Thessaloníki .
We won that event. I remeber him at the boat park the last day of the event telling me that they need to work harder if they want to reach our level. A couple of months later that year he got the bronze medal at Beijing Olympics with us looking at a broken sail loosing all our chances for a medal at the medal race. He came to me after the race and said..”You guys didn’t deserve this..” Was a strong moment that made me “hang in” there after this. Special guy. Special friendship. Later on he did what he loved to do being one of the best around for ages.. Today he is retiring from Olympic sailing full and complete. Thanks for all the moments my friend. It is an honor sailing against you, being a person you knew, a friend most of all. Wish you the best and I’m pretty sure we ll see you still around! 🙏🙏

F18 worlds here in Clearwater Florida was the event we chose to come back with in a boat together again after 3 years. ...

F18 worlds here in Clearwater Florida was the event we chose to come back with in a boat together again after 3 years. Didn’t had much time to adapt as a few days in the water before the event and then straight into action with the two 1st days staying out of the water due to lack of wind. It ended up into a 3 day event and in sailing everything can happen.. 1st day our consistency and speed saved us. 2nd day we never managed to get into synch with conditions..painful..3rd day we finally managed to push and race as we know even though a premature start costed us a pontioum finish at the end in a very tight scoring board at 5th place. We got though the masters cup as 107 years old (together) and we are 😂. Some times you just need to grab a drink step back and enjoy and definitely we enjoyed this championship. Congrats to all the winners, especially to the new world champs and for bringing their youth and strength to the class showing what a great sailing Plattform class is! Finally a big thanks to providing us again a great boat to race. and for the best sails around. for the sailing and safety gear , .yachting for our sheets and lines and for the sun protection which we definitely needed here in Florida!😎 📸Anna Suslova

Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes.. Not a good regatta for me. Till now a black flag on race 2 , an unforced error in race 3, plus and avoid of a collision ending up to to a huge capsize breaking my tiller extension in race7, actually finished any ambition I had for this regatta. To be honest if i was able to be around top 10 -15 I would be happy as this was my goal. Didn’t expect much as sailing alone doesn’t help you to grow as the level of sailors now is full on. Top boat, Top completion! Let’s see what the last days will bring for me. 📸
