Α.Ε. Άρτεμις ΙΛΙΟΥ

Α.Ε. Άρτεμις ΙΛΙΟΥ Artemis (Greek: Α.Ε. Άρτεμις Ιλίου) was founded in 1988. A.E. Team colors are Blue and Yellow. The team managed to get to the 3rd round Cup qualifiers.

Artemis was originally a basketball team established out of a small English school located at Ilion’s Saint Nicolas neighborhood. The club after 2 years of operations will establish a volleyball division in addition to the Basketball division. Only during the early 1990s, did the basketball team have some success, when it had Nikos Gargalis as head coach for players under 15yo. Eventually the club

will merge with another local Basketball Club called Asteras ZP (Greek: Α.Ο. Αστέρα Ζωοδόχου Πηγής) and will become Enosis Iliou (Greek: Αθλητικός Όμιλος Ένωση Ιλίου). Some of the most notable players are Vasilios Gkatzias who played for number of teams in Greece’s 2nd and 3rd division. Chris Koukos played for Fisher’s College (Falcons), an NAIA Division college in United States. Spyros Mazianis is a well-known coach and trainer for young basketball players in Athens’s west subdivision. Mazianis is well respected among people in the basketball community and has developed several Greece’s basketball players. Kostas Kotsis, the current manager of the Greek National Basketball Team was Artemis’s Head coach from 1991 to 1992. Other Notable Players:

Ο Kώστας Kώτσης τελείωσε το τμήμα φυσικής αγωγής και αθλητισμού, με ειδικότητα στην καλαθοσφαίριση. Ξεκίνησε από τον Γ.Σ. Περιστερίου, όπου κατέκτησε δύο πανελλήνιους τίτλους με το παιδικό και το εφηβικό τμήμα. Παράλληλα εργάστηκε ως προπονητής στα τμήματα υποδομής του Περιστερίου, αλλά και σε διάφορες ομάδες της Aθήνας. Ο Kώστας είναι τιμ μάνατζερ της Εθνικής Ομάδας μπάσκετ.
