📢 FINAL FOUR — Greek Open-Air Men's Club Championship 2026
The Hellenic cricket community is set for an exciting showdown as four clubs battle it out for the national Final Four title, hosted in Corfu on 17–18 October 2026.
Semi-Finals — Saturday 17 October
10:00 — AOPK "TO DEKATHLO" vs Kallithea "Exaria"
14:30 — MESMA Cricket Club vs GK "Byron"
Finals — Sunday 18 October
10:00 — Third Place Play-off
14:30 — Grand Final
Notably, two of the four qualifying clubs — MESMA Cricket Club and AOPK "To Dekathlo" — both had standout seasons this year, each topping their respective groups to earn their place in this final stage. Both clubs share a strong commitment to developing the sport at grassroots level through junior and youth academies, reflecting the growing momentum of cricket across Greece.
The tournament promises a competitive and closely fought weekend of cricket, bringing together the best club sides in the country on Corfu's own playing fields.

Cricket appears historically in Corfu, which was under the British domination, on the 23rd of April 1823 with a game between officers of the British Navy and the Garrison. From then on, only twelve years needed for the Corfiots to learn the game and form two local sides and start taking up the British. The one was consisted of players of minor and medium rang and named Small and the other one was consisted of players of a higher rang and named Large.

On the departure of the British from Corfu in 1864 there evolved two local clubs - the Gongakis company and the Camvissis club. In 1893 however owing to a dearth of players these clubs merged to become the Gymnastikos club, one of the eldest clubs in Greece, the sole opponents being frequent visiting ships of the Royal Navy. In 1923 the Ergatikos club was formed and in 1936 it opened its doors to members of the aristocracy and became known as the Byron C.C. in honour of the famous poet.

After the Second World War, cricket has survived due to the excellent publicity made by the British media (BBC, Daily Telegraph etc)

The Times of 14th December 1859 reported: Corfu has this year been visited by an extraordinary number of fashionable tourists, politicians, artistic and sporting. The later are the most numerous. This is still true 150 years later.

In 1997 the Hellenic Cricket Federation (H.C.F.) was established which is an affiliate member of ICC.

The Hellenic Cricket Federation has done important steps into junior development. Through the programme "Cricket goes to school" and after special permission from the Ministry of Education, cricket every year is taught to nearly all the primary and secondary schools of Corfu.

Easy win, top of the group — a new club that "can't send letters," established in 1976 😂😂 Well done to our president and the Mesma board who trusted us — we proved what we can do. Great job to Bairamis Panagiotis, the Athens coordinator. Onwards to Corfu for the finals!
Quick note on the scorecard: Mesma chased down Athens Sixers CC's 53 for 56/7, winning by 3 wickets — a tight finish on the chase despite the low target, with Numan top-scoring 27* (28 balls, 3 fours) while most others struggled for runs (Akram 5, Aqdus 0, Yasir 6, Iqbal 6, Abu 0).

Mesma won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 113. Rouf CC came agonisingly close in the chase, falling just 2 runs short — needing 3 off the last over and finishing on 15/3 in that final passage, unable to close the gap.
