What happens when movement science, physics, engineering, haptics, computational life science, and neuropsychology meet inside a living practice?

Together with André Seyfarth, Philipp Erben, Lucia Seminara, Benedetto Piaggio, and Katerina Fotopoulou, we used FM Practice as a shared laboratory to explore one question:

How can embodied practice strengthen agency, adaptability and empowerment in mental health?

Stay tuned!

/ André Seyfarth. Head of the Institute of Sport Science at TU Darmstadt and Founder of Movement Academy.

/ Philipp Erben. Professor at the University of Linz (Austria) working in Transformation research: computational life science and experimental medicine, Mannheim, Heidelberg University (Germany); Chairmen: Movement Dialogues Association.

MILAN CALLING
Upcoming FM Physical workshop

EMBODIED INTELLIGENCE
Where creativity will compose
new actions in real time,
and turn surprise into advantage.

17 & 18 October 2026
Milan, Italy

Control, fixed forms, and protocols
are myths of the tired.
We choose another route.

We train perception, not perfection.
We move to understand what moves us.
We embrace the unstable,
turn mistakes into orientation,
use dialogue as calibration,
uncertainty as a teacher.

Zero Forms
can also be described as mapping,
gaining a clearer idea of
how we coordinate ourselves through
movement and how movement
in many ways affects our thinking,
cognition, relation, and communication in general.

When beginning to map the process
you might feel pain in places
you had never felt pain before, you discover
the limitations and actual age of your joints.
It might be unpleasant at first
but you keep exploring.
You become aware of tensions
and you try to release them.

Experiment with
various sequencing orders, and
unexpected connections
to expand your creative thinking,
enrich your movement vocabulary
and your ability to search
and create movement materials
that respond to the context
and the situations you are part of.

Various degrees of
(un)predictability of motion
and trajectories can greatly
support the development of
a better informational bond between
the organism and the environment.

Creativity is not given.
It is cultivated.

Creativity is an emergent property
of the brain's capacity to flexibly combine, inhibit,
and reorganize patterns of perception,
memory, and action—to generate novel,
adaptive outcomes.
