The Fly Athens meeting returned to the iconic Panathenaic Stadium on 5 July, bringing world-class pole vault action to one of the most historic sporting venues in the world.

The Panathenaic Stadium, which hosted the first modern Olympic Games and stands in the heart of Athens with the Parthenon visible in the distance, once again provided a spectacular setting for the event.

Home hero Emmanouil Karalis and some of the world's greatest pole vaulters thrilled the crowd, making it another unforgettable edition of Fly Athens.

Δύο ακόμη κορυφαία ονόματα του άλματος επί κοντώ προστίθενται στη λίστα του διεθνούς μίτινγκ Fly Athens by AUFIT, το οποίο θα διεξαχθεί στις 5 Ιουλίου στον προαύλιο χώρο του Παναθηναϊκού Σταδίου.

Ο λόγος για τον Αμερικανό Κρις Νίλσεν και τον Φιλιππινέζο Ίτζεϊ (EJ) Ομπιένα, δύο αθλητές της παγκόσμιας ελίτ, οι οποίοι έχουν ξεπεράσει στην καριέρα τους το φράγμα των 6 μέτρων. Ο Νίλσεν έχει ατομικό ρεκόρ 6.05μ, επίδοση που σημείωσε το 2022, και ο Ομπιένα κατέχει το ρεκόρ Ασίας με 6.00μ από το 2023 ενώ αμφότεροι έχουν καταγράψει σπουδαία πορεία στις κορυφαίες διεθνείς διοργανώσεις.

The Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) has launched an extensive programme of restoration and upgrade works at the Panathenaic Stadium, the iconic monument of Greek sport and Olympism, with the aim of preserving and further enhancing its historic and cultural significance.

The first phase of the project involves the complete replacement of the athletics track surface, which, after many years of continuous use for major sporting events and daily training sessions, had suffered significant wear. The new German-manufactured track will feature the colours of the Greek flag and is certified by World Athletics for Diamond League-level competitions.

The works, fully funded by Capital Maritime & Trading Corp., owned by Evangelos Marinakis, extend well beyond the track replacement. Immediately after the installation of the new track, an extensive cleaning of the Panathenaic Stadium's marble surfaces will be carried out with the utmost respect for the monument's historical character, further highlighting the timeless beauty and unique architectural heritage of the world's only stadium built entirely of white marble.

In addition, a new state-of-the-art lighting system will be installed, significantly enhancing both the functionality and the aesthetics of the Stadium while providing improved conditions for athletes, visitors and the hosting of major international sporting events.

Στο πλαίσιο της συνεργασίας του Ιδρύματος Α. Γ. Λεβέντη με την Hellenic Olympic Committee για το Πρόγραμμα Υποτροφιών Ολυμπιακής Προετοιμασίας, πραγματοποιήθηκε το Σάββατο 9 Μαΐου 2026 στο Καλλιμάρμαρο δράση με τη συμμετοχή παιδιών από τα Παιδικά Χωριά SOS, παρουσία του Προέδρου της Ελληνικής Ολυμπιακής Επιτροπής Ισίδωρου Κούβελου.

Η Εθνική Ολυμπιακή Ακαδημία της Ελλάδας - ΕΘΝ.Ο.Α μαζί με τους υπότροφους αθλητές του Προγράμματος, στο οποίο συμβάλλει και φέτος η ΕΟΕ, υποδέχθηκαν 40 παιδιά ηλικίας 11 έως 14 ετών, τα οποία συμμετείχαν σε αθλητικές δραστηριότητες και βιωματικά παιχνίδια στον χώρο του Σταδίου. Η δράση σχεδιάστηκε με στόχο τη γνωριμία των παιδιών με τις αξίες του αθλητισμού και του Ολυμπισμού μέσα από τη συμμετοχή, τη συνεργασία και την ομαδικότητα.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της εκδήλωσης, τα παιδιά είχαν την ευκαιρία να αλληλεπιδράσουν με τους υπότροφους αθλητές, να συμμετάσχουν σε αγωνιστικές και ψυχαγωγικές δραστηριότητες και να γνωρίσουν διαφορετικά αθλήματα σε ένα ιστορικό αθλητικό περιβάλλον.

Ακολούθησε συμβολική βράβευση των υπότροφων αθλητών από τα παιδιά, με την επίδοση τιμητικών πλακετών, καθώς και βράβευση και ανταλλαγή αναμνηστικών δώρων με τα παιδιά που συμμετείχαν στις δραστηριότητες από τους διακεκριμένους αθλητές.
