FC Twente considers involvement in community service and being in the middle of societal activities, to be of the utmost importance. That is why besides soccer and ambience, solidarity is one of the three pillars of Club policy. In 2014, FC Twente The Gambia set up “Scoring for the Community” to structure its community activities and distance itself somewhat from the soccer issues of the day. The
Foundation works intensively with its community partners, drawing upon a soccer club’s power to mobilize people together. The slogan “a good neighbor (‘noaber’ in local dialect) is better than a distant friend,” concretizes the club’s support for a number of neighborhood communities within Brikama and beyond in The Gambia. The club has a special bond with these neighborhoods, and puts into practice being a good neighbor through a large number of different social-welfare programs.
