Algerian Football

Algerian Football Focus is on all that is Algerian football. The past, the present and the future. The goal of this page would be to create an easy source for Algerian football.

I'll be looking to cover, Algerian football at the national level. It'd be very hard for me to get domestic league games from where I am. So here is the breakdown and how I think this will work.

-I'll post a picture of certain players (players called up, players that will be, and players that should be looked at)
- Give previews and reviews of national team games
- Post goals/assists by players

playing for their clubs
- Post questions for the day or overall questions in order to keep a discussion going

In all, I hope you guys enjoy this page, and please note this isn't a company or organization. Simply an individual that loves Algerian Football. Enjoy guys (:

Please note, I will not have advertising of any sort. Unless it is for football purposes. Please refrain from stating political and or religious slander. I understand that politics and football go hand in hand... but be respectful of others. ANY comment that violates these rules will be deleted. This being a football page, keep the topic on football. Thank you (:

SUPERB performance by Florian Raspentino. He's proved himself to be a class act, it's easy to see now why so many top flight Italitan clubs (such as Udinese) were chasing him.

Our national captain Antar Yahia has secured a move back to Europe, which sees him joining FC Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga on a three and a half year deal. Thoughts anyone?

Youth News
We have been talking recently that Algeria’s future looks bright. This future will have two waves. First, the Euro-Algerian wave; in which Algeria will experience a new wave of European born Algerians switching alliances to come play for the Greens. Here we see Boudebouz, Feghouli, Abeid, Hamroun, Cadamuro and others to come. I’d like to point your attention to the ones on loan as of now.
-Idriss Saadi is on loan with Reims
-Mehdi Courgnaud is on loan with Arles-Avignon
- Florian Raspentino plays for FC Nantes
These are just three players to just keep a keen eye out for as we get to see what they do with some first team football.

The second wave we will be seeing is the home grown academy kids. There have been a rise in academies in Algeria as of late. Paradou Academy being the most notable for academies funded by the same organization are having relatively good success (biggest success and oldest Academy is located in Ivory Coast). Paradou Academy has proven to be a team of young individuals that can punch high above their weight. Our kids have tied with Barcelona youth and lost 3-2 to u19 Villarreal team. According to Dzfoot.com the first graduation will be looking to be injected in to Paradou’s first team. This might actually work out for the best since they gain steady ground in the domestic league before hopeful moves to Europe. Another academy that could benefit us is ASFAO. This academy is based in Oran and from the looks of this video they look to be following a similar structure applied by Paradou Academy. Inshallah these kids grow healthy and reach the potential that they appear to have.

Algeria Update 1/20/2012
-Saphir Taider- Co-owned now by Juventus and Bologna
- Sofiane Feghouli came one in the Copa Del Rey match against levante playing for 15 minutes and getting in an assist
- Idriss Saadi is now on loan with Reims (Playing with Kamel Ghilas, which should be pretty good for us) Saadi has played and started the past two games for Reims.
- Boudebouda seems to be out on injury and Ouali has now been getting decent playing time. Ouali has scored 6 goals this season in 17 games.
- And finally Nabil Ghilas in second division Portuguese league scored quite a goal..(He scored against sporting lisbon in a 1-1 draw in the league cup, his team also sits second place and looks to be ready for promotion as it stands)

Saadane... What an interesting character in Algerian Football. I'm sure we can all vividly remember ranting off about this man due to his rather questionable World Cup decisions and our diminishing performances leading up to the World Cup. However, maybe he has the right to smile. Maybe, just maybe he got in the last laugh. I feel as though he has endured a lot of hate towards the end of his Coaching career for us but I would like to shed some light on what he has done for Algeria. I'll provide a list of a couple of players that have become pivotal figures for us now.

Boudebouz- He joined Algeria during Saadane's career and now we just have to wait until he explodes to his full potential. Despite Sochaux's poor form, he still remains one of the best wingers in Ligue 1 only falling behind Hazard in the finishing department.

M'Bolhi- Fantastic keeper. Mind you Saadane found the man in the Bulgarian league and after calling him up we found out that he had recently gone on trial with Manchester United. However, that didn't work out but I have little doubt he'll be moving out soon enough.

Lacen- Lacen is probably our most sound player. It was a long battle to get him but I feel it was worth the effort.

Kadir- Saadane picked this little midfielder up while he was playing in Ligue 2 and now is a vital member of his club in Ligue 1 and putting in some very nice performances.

Abdoun- Again, another player called up by Saadane to the WC while playing in Ligue 2. Now, he has joined up with Olympiakos, by no means a Ligue 2 quality team.

Mesbah- Finally... what a find. Playing in Serie B with Lecce. Comes into the squad as an unknown player. Now, He has just signed for AC Milan. Enough said.

Just to sum it up. Its either Saadane has an insane eye for players and their potential... or just got really luck when looking to find back up players for the WC squad. Either way, Thank you Saadane (:
