An Unforgettable Night at the Stephen Bunting Exhibition
Last Tuesday, we enjoyed a fantastic evening of darts at the Stephen Bunting Exhibition, with a packed venue and a completely sold-out event creating a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish.
Dyson Parody was crowned tournament champion after defeating Ethan Pulham in the final. However, one of the biggest highlights — and certainly the biggest upset — of the night came in the quarter-finals.
Pulham produced a superb performance to defeat world number nine and former world champion Stephen “The Bullet” Bunting 2–0, creating a moment that will live long in the memory of everyone who was there to witness it. Beating a player of Bunting’s calibre was a fantastic achievement for the local player and undoubtedly one of the standout moments of an unforgettable evening.
In between the tournament matches, Bunting also took on lucky raffle winners, giving them the unique opportunity to step up to the oche and play a leg against one of the biggest names in world darts.
The evening was all in support of a great cause, with a fantastic amount of money raised for the GBC Open Day. An auction was also held during the night, with some brilliant items up for grabs, including a Liverpool shirt signed by the players.
A special mention must also go to Justin Hewitt, who generously donated one of his match shirts for the auction. The shirt was signed on the night by all the participants, making it a unique piece of memorabilia while helping to raise even more money for charity.
Some of Gibraltar’s best local players took part in the tournament, contributing to what was a hugely enjoyable and memorable occasion for players and spectators alike.
A massive thank you must go to Entain for making this event possible, for sponsoring the evening and for inviting us to be part of such a special occasion. Their support played a huge part in making the night the success that it was.
We would also like to give a big thank you to darts referee Nick Rolls for making the trip over and being part of the event, as well as to everyone behind the scenes who worked hard to make the evening possible.
And, of course, thank you to all the players, participants, raffle winners, supporters and everyone who attended or contributed. The tremendous support throughout the evening helped make the event such a success and, most importantly, helped raise valuable funds for charity.
Finally, it was a real pleasure to welcome Stephen “The Bullet” Bunting back to Gibraltar, a place with which he has enjoyed close ties for many years. Both the fans and local players thoroughly enjoyed having him here, and the sold-out exhibition proved to be another very special night for Gibraltar darts.
A packed house, great darts, an incredible upset and plenty of money raised for a fantastic cause — a night that will live long in the memory of everyone who was there.
