Fijai Real United Soccer Academy, home of the mighty humblers is a non-profit community based Soccer Academy with a strong focus on our junior base. Founded in 2009 with just 12 players, by 2010 the club had grown to 35 registered junior players. 2010 saw unprecedented growth with the team getting the qualification from Third Division to the Second Division within a year. We believe that sports ca
n also help in alleviating poverty in many Ghanaian homes if and only if careful attention is given to those who are deposited with that talent are identified, natured and coached well. Sports can be a career since all of us cannot be at offices at the same time. The academy’s most priority is on orphans and school drop-outs who are well talented. We will be excited that in some few years to come, Fijai community will have its own team to cheer on in the First Division with Fijai Real United joining the competition. This is likely to have an impact on participation at a grassroots level and we anticipate that because of this, 2014 will see a record increase in our player registrations. We value our sporting successes and strive to accept defeats in our competition teams with good grace. Our approach for teams Under 12 and below is on learning, not winning. With more registered participants than any other sport state wide, soccer in the Metropolis and the region as a whole is continuing to grow in popularity as a sport for all ages, and the humblers are proud to be part of helping Western Region develop a love of the “world game”. Traditions are built over time. Sports tourism is therefore a tool for poverty alleviation and social cohesion. The abject poverty in our rural areas could be reduced if sports tourism is developed. This is because most of our attraction sites are dotted in the rural areas where poverty is prevalent and the idea of branding the visit for the visitor is something that is missing in our effort to market Ghana as a destination. With the development of the society and the improvement of peoples' living standard, sport tourism gradually becomes one of the most important parts of the popular healthy lifestyle. As a new product in the tourism market, sport tourism is based on the sport resources, used various kinds of sporting events to plan, design and mix as the relevant products, which can arouse the consumption desire and demand of the people, and meanwhile it's a new form which can make them participate in the sport and get the natural experiences. Fijai Real United Academy offers numerous local sports events that attract athletes and fans from all over the Western Region of Ghana. Soccer, basketball, tennis and it attracts onlookers and participants of all ages. Our sports tourism is open to everyone: amateurs, fans, professional athletes and their trainers and coaches who come for a range of activities from training camps through friendship games and we hope to go international through exchange games.
