FIRST HALF:
The match started pretty slow as both teams were measuring the strength of their opponents.
KANDEMA FC built themselves into the game like how real underdogs do.
They really took everyone by surprise how they quickly switched to a high press.
Their constant press led to ABIL-YERI FC making so many mistakes.
KANDEMA FC opened the score sheet with a brilliant move. Their right winger after receiving the ball controlled it nicely before going past two players of ABIL-YERI FC. He then laid a very nice through ball to 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐀𝐒𝐀(KANDEMA FC) who after a good ran with the ball played it past the goalKeeper of ABIL-YERI FC into the bottom left corner of the goalposts. The score became ABIL-YERI FC 0-1 KANDEMA FC.
ABIL-YERI FC after several attempts and well coordinated passes got an equalizer on the 27th min. Their workerholic striker(TARIQ ANAAB) dashed out to pick a pass at the right wing and after creating space, he gave a low cross in the 16yard of the KANDEMA FC goal area which was then tapped in by 𝐉𝐔𝐃𝐄 𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐑𝐔𝐊(ABIL-YERI FC) to make it 1-1.
KANDEMA FC restored their lead after a free kick was played through the the defense of ABIL-YERI FC. 𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐀𝐊 𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐏𝐇𝐄𝐑(KANDEMA FC) took advantage of a miscommunication by two defenders of ABIL-YERI FC, and lifted it high past the experienced ABOLIK GIDEON into the net.
The score became ABIL-YERI FC 1-2 KANDEMA FC.
The first half ended 2-1 in favor of KANDEMA FC.
SECOND HALF:
The second half was more of a 50/50 game at the start but KANDEMA FC decided to defend their lead, leaving the ball for ABIL-YERI FC play.
The substitutions of ABIL-YERI FC really helped them to stabilize the game.
KANDEMA FC played very well and their defensive strategy was very excellent as they succeeded in frustrating the players of ABIL-YERI FC.
All looked like a KANDEMA FC win until the dieing minutes of the game.
ABIL-YERI FC benefited from a very controversial goal which according to many was a blunder from the referees.
At the right side of the KANDEMA FC half, a scrambled ball which arguably went out of play was watched on by the KANDEMA FC defenders, thinking they will whistle for a goal kick. The player of ABIL-YERI FC involved in the incident hesitated a bit but after realizing the whistle was not blown, went ahead to score which the referee pointed to the center for a goal.
The game was disrupted and the KANDEMA FC team wanted to walk out.
Though they had a genuine case(because many at that area, including the security personnel on duty admitted the ball had gone out of play), walking out wasn't the best of decisions.
Calm was restored and the game continued.
The scored stood at 2-2.
There was nothing much played as the demoralized KANDEMA FC players were so down emotionally.
The game ended 2-2 and went straight to penalty kicks.
ABIL-YERI FC after missing just a penalty and KANDEMA FC missing two, won the game by 4-3.
I must admit, the attitude of the ABIL-YERI FC fans was nothing to write home about. They complained a lot about the officiating to an extent they threatened to end the games entirely. The threats directed at the referees and organizers were uncalled for.
At the end they were the very people who benefited from a referees blunder which none of them wanted to talk about.
In the midst of all that, the lead coach of ABIL-YERI FC (LUCAS ABAKISI) stood out. He was very gentle and minded the business he was tasked to do.
That is what we expect from all the coaches and team management.
KANDEMA FC filed a protest during the game, challenging the eligibility of APOCHAAB EDMOND (ABIL-YERI FC). They said "he was registered as a coach and not a player."
After checks and thorough investigations, the committee found nothing supporting their claim. The protest was solved amicably and we hope to learn from all that happened.
