🏓 THROWBACK THURSDAY | TWO ICONS OF GHANA TABLE TENNIS 🇬🇭
Some reunions are more than just a meeting,they are a beautiful reminder of history, friendship, sacrifice and the glory of the game.
After so many years, two superstars of Ghana table tennis and former national players crossed paths again in New Jersey, USA.
On one side was Isaac Opoku, popularly known as “Asawa,” the only Ghanaian male table tennis player to qualify for the Olympic Games—a true pioneer whose name is forever written in the history of Ghanaian table tennis.
Standing beside him was Eric Hammond, a former captain of the Black Loopers, who led the national team at the 2003 All Africa Games in Abuja, Nigeria, where Ghana fought with determination and brought home a bronze medal. 🥉
Two men. One sport. One proud nation.
Their journeys may have taken them to different parts of the world, but the memories, battles, victories and sacrifices they shared on the table remain timeless.
This reunion is a reminder that legends never really leave the game. Their footprints remain in the history they helped create and in the generations they inspired.
Today, we celebrate Isaac “Asawa” Opoku and Eric Hammond—two remarkable ambassadors of Ghanaian table tennis.
