HUCAM with support from GCNH under the GAVI_CDS3 Project in Tano South Municipal implementing immunization activities in Collaborations with Municipal Health Directorate and the volunteers from 10 communities in the Municipality.the project is focus mobilising caregiver and community members to create demand for immunization services for their children and them (Adults vaccination) thus integrating COVID-19 vaccination into retuen immunization with help of community-based health volunteers, Queen Mothers, religious leaders and other stakeholders
In line with this, the following activities are going to be implementations in the 10 communities in Municipality. :
Volunteer Activities.
1. Community Health Volunteers will be educating, mobilizing, and sensitizing local community/village citizens parents to create demand for and send their children under 5 years for immunizing services and also search for the defauler and bring themback so that no child will be missing out.
2. Community Engagement: Community-based health volunteers will engage in various activities, including;
A. Health Education: Providing health education to community members on disease prevention, symptoms, and treatment.
B. Child Welfare Clinics: Assisting nurses in outreach programs and child welfare clinics.
C. Mobilizing Community Members: Organizing community members for health activities, such as immunizations and CWC, Weighing, Clergy identifications.
Volunteer driven activity Implementations.
1. Volunteer Training: Volunteers receive training on specific skills, such as health education, data collection, focus group discussions, lorry station campaign, immunization campaigns, CIC and Radio sensitization.
2. Community Engagement: Volunteers work closely with local community members, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility and in collaborations with CHPS compound in-charges.
3. Project Planning: Volunteers participate in project planning and decision-making processes, ensuring that initiatives align with community needs and priorities.
Benefits: The projects is aimed to improve community infrastructure forI immunizationservices, promote child health, and enhance citizens participation in building a healthy community.
Challenges: inadequate funding. We wish to scale up the project to all communities in the Municipality but the fund is limited.
