The Ghana Chess Association (GCA), is a Non-governmental organization recognized by its members and the World Chess Federation –Fédération Internationale des Echecs – FIDE as well as bodies including Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), ational Sports Authority (NSA), Commonwealth Chess Association (CCA), African Chess Union etc. as the umbrella body in the domain of chess in Ghana. The supreme body responsible for the sport of chess and its Championships. GCA has the sole rights to organize the Ghana National Chess Championships and other chess tournaments of national character in Ghana. GCA unites chess clubs, players, officials and enthusiasts throughout Ghana and oversees all national and club competitions.

The 2026 Easter Rapid and Blitz Chess Tournament has come to a successful end 🥳🍾

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, a great mix of familiar and new faces gathered at the Presidential Lounge of the Accra Sports Stadium for an exciting day of chess ♟️

A total of 25 players competed in two 9-round Swiss events (Rapid and Blitz), battling it out for a prize pool of almost GHS 3,000.

Here are the winners from both events:

Rapid Tournament

2nd Place – Akpa Prince 🥈
3rd Place – Dr. Loglo Daniel Mensah 🥉
Best Female – WCM Maud Benson 🎖️
