Godfred Opoku finishes 4th in the World! 🇬🇭🔥

The Ghanaian quarter-miler delivered a superb performance in the Men's 400m Final, clocking an impressive 45.46sec to finish 4th at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

After winning his opening-round heat and making a time of 45.91s in the semi-finals, Godfred improved again in the final and came agonisingly close to a podium finish.

🇬🇭 Team Ghana Set for World Athletics U20 Championships Debut in Oregon

The stage is set for Team Ghana at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, USA, as Ghana's two representatives begin their campaigns on Thursday, 6 August 2026.

🏃🏾‍♂️ Godfred Opoku will compete in the Men's 400m Round 1, running in Heat 1, Lane 7. The Ghanaian quarter-miler enters the competition with a PB and SB of 45.38sec, aiming to secure qualification to the semi-finals.

🕗 Race Time: 20:15 GMT

Team Ghana delivered a superb performance to claim the bronze medal in the Men's 4×100m Relay at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The Ghanaian quartet crossed the finish line in 38.13sec, securing 3rd place in a thrilling contest behind Australia (38.07s) and Nigeria (38.12s).
