Mention drowning and we all tend to envision a person in the water waving his hands, splashing and screaming for help. That’s not even remotely close to what a drowning person looks like, writes Mario Vittone in this week’s Lifelines: Safety And Rescue At Sea blog.

We were at it again. This time we were at a community in Dansoman called Shiabu. It was a community that lives near the sea with drainages from inland, running through the community into the sea.

This community was reported to have lots of drowning related issues whenever there is heavy downfall.

On the 27th of March 2018, Felix Foundation staff and stakeholders held a water sensitization exercise with the good people of Shiabu to raise awareness on water safety.

Over 300 people were in attendance at this event. Amongst the activities for the day were lifejacket demonstrations and also Participants were taken through the 10 water safety messages.

It doesn't stop here. Keep an eye out for more on water safety messages especially, this Easter period
