Teqball Federation of Ghana Hosts Maiden National Club Championship at Accra Sports Stadium

Accra, July 14, 2025— In a groundbreaking moment for the sport in Ghana, the Teqball Federation of Ghana, under the guidance and support of the Normalization Committee successfully hosted the first-ever National Teqball Club Championship at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, 12th July 2025.

The historic championship brought together top teqball clubs from across the country, signaling a new era for the fast-growing sport. The event not only celebrated teqball’s rising popularity in Ghana but also served a critical purpose acting as a national ranking competition to select elite players for the Ghana national teqball team.

Clubs battled it out in intense matches that showcased athleticism, skill, and the unique flair teqball is known for. The competition attracted teqball enthusiasts, officials, and supporters, all energized by the unity and passion the sport continues to inspire nationwide.

The Organizing Committee of the Teqball Federation extended its heartfelt appreciation to key partners and supporters, including the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ), Hon. Kojo Baah Agyemang the chairman of NC, Ransford Nortey, the participating Teqqers and the Ghanaian teqball fraternity. Their contributions played an instrumental role in the success of this maiden championship.

This event marks a significant milestone in the Federation’s mission to institutionalize teqball as a recognized national sport, create competitive opportunities for players, and build a robust pipeline for international representation.

As teqball continues its impressive rise across Ghana and the globe, the Federation is calling on stakeholders, government bodies, and corporate Ghana to join the movement and support the development of this exciting and youth-driven sport.

Evergreen Teqqers Secures National Club Championship Title.

Evergreen Teqball Club from Accra has emerged victorious in the inaugural National Club Championship, organized by the Teqball Federation Ghana (TFG) at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 12, 2025. The event aimed to highlight club competitions across Ghana.

Speaking at the event, the General Secretary of the Federation, Mac Quarshie, stated, "Teqball is a game for the youth, so we want to widen our reach across the country." At this stage, Teqball's evolution involves organizing more games or new competitions featuring elite clubs and stars that drive the game. Teqqers represented clubs in pursuit of national glory.

At the tournament's conclusion, Evergreen Teqqers from Greater Accra won the doubles competition, defeating Keta Sandcity Teq Club in two straight sets, with Casford Teqball Club securing third place. Joel Afari Arthur emerged victorious in the singles category, beating Sylvester Nortey, while Michael Owusu from Casford claimed third position.

The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, attended the event, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring all sporting disciplines receive equal opportunities and necessary support. He pledged his support for the development and promotion of the game and advised players to train more and be consistent. He also made donations to support the event.

Mr. Hubert Leo Mensah, an executive of the Federation, took the opportunity to thank the Hon. Kwadwo Baah of the Normalization Committee for his leadership and support, while acknowledging the mother body of Teqball, Fiteq's recognition of the tournament. He hinted at plans to extend the tournament to West Africa, "looking forward to hosting the West Africa Championship in Ghana this October and also seeking a demonstration at the National Para Games in November 2025." For those with drive and talent, Teqball offers a new frontier for a sporting career.
As the sport continues to expand, opportunities abound for athletes to make their mark, both on and off the Teq table. With its non-contact nature and gender-equitable competitions, Teqball promotes a healthy sporting environment and champions inclusivity, making it a field ripe for professional development.
