Congratulations to Martin Lucas on a fantastic hole-in-one at the 11th hole on 19 June.

This brilliant achievement was witnessed by his playing partners, Jeremy Burton, James Thomason and Melvyn Percy.

Martin's certificate is attached, along with a photo of a very pleased golfer, and quite rightly so!

Well done Martin 🥳

Hampshire 7's Final - May 24th

Unfortunately, it wasn't to be for St Pierre Park this time around, as L'Ancresse Golf Club edged a hard-fought and closely contested Guernsey Final to win 4-3.

Played in glorious conditions at the Park, we knew we were facing a strong L'ancresse side and, despite home advantage, we ultimately came up just short. Congratulations to Chris Le Tissier and his team, who thoroughly deserved their victory and now progress to represent Guernsey in the Channel Islands Final.

As the scoreline suggests, it was a tight affair throughout. Zac Hannis secured an excellent 2&1 victory and CJ Elmy delivered the goods with a superb 2-up victory over Jon Warr. Steve Batiste produced the standout result of the day however, with an impressive 8&6 win. His caddie John Riley was most pleased, as he only needed to carry Steve's bag for 12 holes!

Several of the remaining matches went deep into the back nine and could easily have swung the other way. Special mention must go to Geoff Orme, whose victory over our captain Martin Ireland on the final hole secured the decisive fourth point for L'Ancresse and ultimately settled the contest.

Whilst we're naturally disappointed not to be progressing, we're incredibly proud of everyone who represented the club. A huge thank you to all the players, caddies and supporters who gave up their time and helped create such a fantastic atmosphere around the course.

We'd also like to thank the LGC team for a superb match played in great spirit throughout. We wish them the very best in the Channel Islands Final and hope they can go one better and bring the trophy back to Guernsey.

As for St Pierre Park, we'll dust ourselves down, regroup and be back fighting again next year.

Dear golfers

We’re gearing up for the May Monthly on Sunday May 3rd and would love to see a big turnout.

The more players we have, the better the prizes, so this is a great chance to get involved, enjoy a competitive round, and make it worthwhile for everyone in the field.

Don’t forget, it also counts towards the Order of Merit, and if you’re signed up for the Eclectic, every hole counts.

Entry is just £8, and as always, you can sign up through ClubV1.

Whether you’re chasing a score or just fancy a good game with a bit on it, get your name down and be part of it.

Let’s make this one a strong field!

Kind regards

Ross Haines
Competition Secretary
