Guernsey Yacht Club

Guernsey Yacht Club Open all year round & situated in a prime position next to Castle Cornet, over-looking St Peter Port

The Guernsey Yacht Club was established in 1890 and in 1961 the Club secured a lease from the States of Guernsey and built a single-storey clubhouse. Over the years this has been extended many times, and now offers 3 rooms all with bars, wet-change facilities, and a fantastic decked area. We are open throughout the day, with lunch available every day and evening meals on Friday and Saturdays. Our

dinghy park has access to two slipways, one into the main harbour and one into Havelet bay (currently under repair). The Club's diverse membership, both in interest and age, means that there is something on offer for everyone, with a vibrant social side as well as offering a full racing program for yachts and dinghies, and rallies for cruising yachts and motorboaters. The thriving junior section also uses the model yacht pond for training in optimists before they venture out onto the sea. The fantastic decking area is the perfect place to relax and catch up with friends after a day on the water. We are an RYA Recognised Training Centre and offers a variety of courses and refreshers to members throughout the year. The Club hosted the sailing and windsurfing events at the 2003 Island Games and is looking forward to hosting them again in 2023. In addition, we also welcome many visiting regattas and rallies as well as the annual inter-island race with Jersey, our own Guernsey Regatta, and triennially the juniors Trophees des Isles. For membership enquiries please speak to our membership secretary or a member of staff at the club, and further details, application forms, and prices can be founds on our website.

☀️ New Summer Menus at the Club! ☀️

The new summer menus are out, fresh changes to both food and wine to see us through the summer months.
A few new favourites to tempt you:
🦐 Garlic King Prawns & Feta Salad, sautéed king prawns with local seaweed flakes and Greek feta. A proper warm-weather plate.
🍳 Pork Schnitzel Holstein, breaded escalope topped with fried eggs, capers and lemon.
🔥 Jerk Chicken Burger, spiced chicken with a real kick, harissa mayo and crispy fried onions.
There's plenty more besides... chargrilled gammon, fresh spinach and ricotta tortellini, and a chicken tikka wrap, so there's something for every appetite. Plus a brand new pasta of the day to keep things interesting.
Come down, grab a table and enjoy the view. We'll see you at the bar!

Celtic Triangle Race – Team Guernsey Reports Back!
Full results: https://www.sailwave.com/results/YMTC26.htm

Four GYC boats recently competed in the Yachting Monthly Double & Single Handed Celtic Triangle, organised by the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club.

Leg 1 from Falmouth to Kinsale was a strong start – Kaya 2 first around Lands' End, Sun of a Gun 3 second in class, Seventh Sun fourth, and Ptarmigan fighting a great battle with two boats all the way to Ireland with Nick Elliott crewing, fresh off the plane from Australia!

Then came a six-day "mini break" in Kinsale while gales and 5–6 metre seas made the Celtic Sea very much off limits. Cork pubs, cold sea swims, and windy cliff walks kept Team Guernsey busy. 🍺🏊

When racing resumed, a forecast F4-5 to Fowey delivered mostly F6 and big seas. Sun of a Gun 3 stormed home with line honours averaging 11 knots,
Seventh Sun third. Kaya 2, passing the Scillies, made the very reasonable call to head straight home to Guernsey instead. 🏠

Ptarmigan made it to Fowey – though a mystery UK Coastguard call mid-passage caused some anxiety ashore, and John Elliott arrived with every item of clothing completely soaked. New forehatch on the to-do list!

Great sailing, great company, great craic – and with Treguier still unfinished business, we'll be back! ⛵🇬🇬

C*C Triangle Race – Sponsored by R W Martel Building Contractors

What a weekend! 10 boats set off from Guernsey over the late May bank holiday for the Guernsey Combined Clubs French Triangle Race, racing between Guernsey, Carteret and Diélette in Normandy.
Three races, two countries, dolphins, dead flies, a man overboard drill (swiftly recovered!), and some brilliant sailing in between. Light winds tested navigational patience throughout, but spirits were never in short supply — especially at the tapas feast at L'Escale restaurant, courtesy of our fantastic sponsor R W Martel Ltd. 🍢
🏆 Weekend Results:
Class 1 Overall – Seventh Sun
Class 2 Overall – Busker
First Double-Handed – Panthalassa
A huge thank you to R W Martel Building Contractors for their generous sponsorship — and a special mention to their boat Kaya 2, who were safely in the bar well before anyone else after every race! 🍻
Here's hoping 2027 sees even more boats on the start line. See you out there!
