We were delighted to welcome Chris from Akuma Sports to Swansea Bay Sports Park and experience their new range for the coming season. Thanks for investing the time and care in both the product and service provided to Swansea HC - we’re delighted with the results.

Club Chair, Ed White, took the opportunity to introduce Chris to our Men’s and Women’s Performance coaches Callum and Eve and quite a few others others on the sidelines watching our ladies 1st XI play Penarth Ladies HC in a pre season friendly.

The 12th David George Memorial Tournament will take place on Saturday at Swansea Bay Sports Park the home of Swansea Hockey Club.

David played for Oystermouth and Swansea Bay Hockey Clubs for many years and also contributed greatly to the management of the clubs. He sadly passed away from cancer in 2014.

All match fees and donations raised from the memorial tournament contribute to the family's chosen charity which is Bowel Cancer UK.

The tournament has raised approx £900 for Bowel Cancer UK each year since 2014. It initially began as a tournament involving Swansea, Oystermouth and Neath. However, in recent years Swansea have entered an adult team and an u18s team whilst Neath have continued to support the event.

In 2026, teams from Swansea, Pembroke and Newcastle Emlyn will compete in the tournament.

David’s wife attends the event each year and his son plays. They are both extremely grateful that his memory is still honoured and for the funds raised for the charity. This year, a representative from Bowel Cancer UK will be attending in order to support and recognise this long running fund raising event.

Match fees are £15 for the 2 games, £10 for juniors and students (cash only).

All match fees collected go to the charity.

A presentation of the funds collected is made to David’s wife after the tournament in Swansea Tennis and Squash Club.

Matches are 30mins each way and will be as follows:

13 00​​ - Swansea vs Newcastle Emlyn

14 10​​ - Pembrokeshire vs Newcastle Emlyn

15 20​​ - Swansea vs Pembrokeshire

Lots happening this week!! Tomorrow is club training. Thursday brings a triple hit of hockey 1. Akuma Sports are in the house 2. Penarth Ladies are also dropping by and 3. It’s the last night of summer social hockey. So drop by to try kit on, train, play or spectate and then stay on to socialise 😃

A double header this week and an open invitation to any one keen to pick up a stick for the season ahead. On Tuesday we have an open session for anyone that would like to play senior hockey this season in our Saturday leagues. This is a gentle opener / getting to know session. On Thursday our summer social hockey continues, again open to anyone who wants to just play a bit of fun hockey, nothing serious, and get to know players of different ages and teams. Come down to one or both and see if you want to start something special this season 🧡💚
