When Harry first started he was very quiet, that quickly changed (in the best way) and he now loves a chat and telling me a new riddle each lesson! Harry has made great progress with his swimming so far, keep going 🏊

💪Another great week full of lots of good swimming and intensives!⭐️

This week some swimmers wore a t- shirt in the pool, this was to introduce a new element of water safety! 🛟

Learning to swim is about knowing the dangers around water and knowing how to deal with them (whilst having fun)!

🌟 Well Done everyone 🌟

A question I get asked all the time is…Should my child be wearing goggles when learning to swim?

The answer isn’t as simple as yes or no, so here is some info on the pro’s and con’s of goggles 💦

✔️Improves underwater visibility- this often makes swimmers more confident as they can see what is underneath them
✔️Encourages swimmers to put their face in the water- especially helping nervous swimmers with water confidence
✔️Improves focus on technique- swimmers don’t get distracted with water in their eyes

❌Swimmers can become dependent, this often leads to regression in later stages
❌Not realistic- in the event of an emergency, goggles won’t always be accessible
❌Disruption to learning- leaking, fogging up & adjusting straps takes time away from the lesson

•I always recommend that if swimmers come to their first lesson without goggles, they should continue to swim with out them
