🔴⚫⚽ Talented Year 6 Footballers in York and District ⚫🔴⚽

York and District u11 Schoolboys are welcoming talented Year 6 footballers to join our training sessions initially with the potential to be included in the match squad for this season 26/27.

⚽ Training: 📍 PlayFootball (Clifton Moor) 🗓️ Monday PM
⚽ Matches: 📍 York University (home matches) 🗓️ Saturday AM

- Our team plays in the Yorkshire Federation Schools Football League – competing against all other Yorkshire cities and districts.
- Most teams at this level have Academy players who play on Sundays but are available to play on Saturdays.
- High-level competition - a great opportunity for players to improve and compete with the best players in the region.
- We have already had approaches from Academy scouts for players - it is also a great opportunity to be seen in the right environment.
- We currently have a match squad but are looking to add 1-2 more to that.
- Matches are Saturday mornings with home games at York University. Away games in Sheffield, Barnsley, Leeds, Rotherham, Hull, Wakefield etc.

To be eligible you must be at a primary school (in year 6) at a school in York and District.

**38 goals across 7 games** with plenty of action, drama and competitive football across the age groups!

🔴 **U11 Boys**
A tough first league game with no substitutes available. The boys battled brilliantly against Wakefield before tired legs told late on, with two late goals making the final scoreline a little harsh on their performance.

⚫ **U11 Girls**
York twice took the lead against an experienced Selby side, but two late goals turned the game around and gave Selby all three points.

🔴 **U12 Boys**
Very little between York and Doncaster in a tight game with chances at a premium. Unfortunately, it was Doncaster who found the decisive goal to nick the points.

⚫ **U13 Boys**
A superb start to the season away at Scunthorpe! York led 4–2 at half-time before dominating the second half and running out convincing winners. An excellent team performance and **the standard has been set!** 👏

🔴 **U14 Boys**
Two goals down against Rotherham, but the boys showed great resilience and spirit to turn the game around. A strong response and some excellent football to get the result. 💪

⚫ **U14 Girls**
Eventual 3.2 winners, York knew the calibre of their opposition from a summer friendly. Harrogate had previously proved to be individually strong, a cohesive team, and have technically gifted players.

York's gameplan was uncomplicated - set up in a system to make the game difficult for the opposition to play and ensure players understood their specific roles. The players executed this with precision.

Excellent goals from Erin Armstrong and Elsie Errington, both assisted by Mollie Shorney superbly, took the score to 2.2, and an outstanding goal by Connie Lugsdin to the score to an unassailable 3.2 lead.

Harrogate, who are an excellent team will feel disappointed. Hard work, bravery, ferocity is going to be needed this season - this was on show in bucket loads today. 👏

🔴 **U15 Boys**
A disappointing opening result against Leeds, with late goals making the scoreline look more comfortable than the game itself. It looks set to be a very competitive U15 league this season — plenty more to come from this group.

⚽ **7 teams. 38 goals. Plenty of positives and lots to build on.**

Everyone is gearing up to the new season kicking off next weekend🙌

Too many friendlies to keep track of but some news this afternoon the national cup competition has been drawn and we have a record 6 York and district teams entered this season.. U12-U15 is a group stage format.. U11s competition is a straight knockout and they have drawn Selby at home.

Looks like there were be some cracking games and new opponents where the U13s will face Knowsley st Helens, Hyndburn & Sefton for the first time

YSB U15s made it 3 wins from 3 in pre-season yesterday as preparations continue for the new season.

The lads kicked things off with a fantastic 4-3 comeback win away at Barnsley. After going 2-0 down, they showed great character to fight their way back into the game. A brace from Jack Dillon brought York level, before Fin Moorhouse put them 3-2 ahead. Barnsley equalised, but Jack completed his hat-trick to seal a great victory. ⚽️

The following week, York travelled to Hull and came away with a comfortable 3-0 win, with goals from Ben Malam, Mylo Prescott and Isaac Green. A superb all-round team performance. 👏

Yesterday, the lads travelled to Scunthorpe and came away with another 3-2 victory. After taking a 2-0 lead, Scunthorpe fought back to make it 2-2 with 15 minutes remaining. The lads showed fantastic character once again to push on and find a winner, with goals from Ethan Wheller, Leo Theaker and Will Dixon.

3 games. 3 wins. Plenty of positives. 💪

York travel to Beverley Town on Wednesday night for another tough test as pre-season continues.

York City Academy vs York Schoolboys

With holiday commitments just U12s and U13s were able to play this weekend with other to be arranged

U12s
YSB started well and could easily have taken an early lead, but a moment of sloppy play at the back allowed the Academy to nip in and finish for 1–0. The first quarter was scrappy, both sides adjusting to the conditions and feeling each other out.

Second quarter, YSB switched on properly. The intensity lifted, the passing sharpened, and chances came thick and fast. Two well‑taken goals flipped the game to 2–1, and from that point YSB looked the more confident, composed side.

The third and fourth quarters were played in blistering heat, but YSB handled it superbly. They controlled the tempo, kept moving the ball, and continued to create the better chances. With a bit more composure in front of goal, the scoreline could have been far heavier.
Final score: YSB 3–1 York City Academy

Thanks to YCFC for stepping up to 11v11 for this friendly.. a great game that swung both ways

YCFC raced into a 2-0 lead in first 5 mins before a Keast penalty and a Basden header brought us level.

A swift counter attacking move finished again by Basden gave YSB the lead before being pegged back. Keast then scored his second of the game in the last minute with a header to give U13s the win on a hot day where all the boys contributed.

York School Boys U12s – Seaside Cup Report

The York School Boys U12s travelled over to Scarborough for the Seaside Cup, and it turned out to be a strong day for the group. A well‑organised tournament with a high standard across all teams, but the lads rose to it from the first whistle to the last.

The boys were excellent throughout, showing discipline, energy, and real quality. Impressively, they didn’t concede a single goal all tournament.

They started well, winning all three league phase games with controlled, confident football.
In the semi‑final, the lads handled the occasion well against a strongly supported home side, edging it 1–0 thanks to Max’s finish at an important moment.

Onto the final, and again they delivered. Frankie won a penalty and put it away calmly, and from that point the boys controlled the game and saw it out professionally to secure the trophy.

The group continues to show positive signs, developing well and proving they can compete at a high level.

Well done lads , a deserved effort from everyone.
