York Horntails Quadball

York Horntails Quadball University of York Quadball Club
Trainings on Saturdays 1:30-3:30pm We compete at QuidditchUK events and many other tournaments. Keep up to date with the team!

The York Horntails are a quadball club and an official QuidditchUK member team, based at the University of York. Founded in 2012, we are a YUSU (University of York Student Union) society, although non-students are welcome to attend. Our most prestigious award to date is taking home the Silver Medal at Northern Cup 2017, qualifying us to compete at the European Quidditch Cup in Pfaffenhofen, German

y in 2018! We were ranked in the top 4 of teams in the UK following Northern 2017. We now have one of the largest teams in the University League, finishing in the top 10 at BQC 2022! We offer friendly open training on Saturdays 12-2pm, and Wednesdays 2-4pm. Training is usually held on 22 Acres, and we meet by the shed in the centre of the first field (if in doubt, look for the iconic hoops to inevitably pop up). Feel free to message our page or email [email protected] for further information. Instagram:

Fancy trying out a new sport?
Come to our upcoming college give it a go session on Wednesday the 8th of May! We are collaborating with Halifax College and Vanbrugh College!
but don't worry if you're not in either of these colleges, anyone is welcome!

Quadball is an all gender sport, combining elements from lots of different sports like rugby, dodgeball, and handball so is a great way to explore your skills! The sport is also open to all levels of ability and is commonly our players first team sport.

The session will be a casual give it a go, introducing you to the aspects of the sport through fun minigames. These are great fun and require no equipment/ sporting ability.

Interested in coming? Fill out our Sign-Up Form so we can get an idea of numbers!: https://forms.gle/LUKCu2gZAjL6aiNT7

As a celebration of all her hard work, we have decided to retire Hannah Mechler's number following her years of dedication to the club!

As a long standing member of our club, Hannah has worked hard over many years for the Horntails, not only as Club President, and a coach but as an overall amazing and supportive person! From helping out in training, tournaments and especially behind the scenes, she has supported a number of past and current players and committee members and has really left her mark on the club for which we are all extremely grateful!

Hannah has been there for the club through thick and thin and it has been absolutely amazing to have her, and we wish her all the best in the Community League with Olympians Quadball Club and in her role as Northern Expansion Manager!

Thank you Hannah!!

Our final game of this year's BQC saw us face off against Oxford for a second time in the 5th place play-off. The game saw a much improved performance and a tight score line throughout, with a quick ShorkTails catch taking the game into overtime in which Oxford reached the 130 target to win!

We had a fantastic time playing together with Sheffield Quadball Club this season as ShorkTails and a lovely time at BQC and would like to thank Quadball UK for hosting and all of the teams we played over the season and the weekend! Looking forward to seeing you all again next year!!
