One of those moments I won’t forget…

Of everything that happened at Cadwell Park this weekend, I think my favourite moment had absolutely nothing to do with us racing.

Thomas had never been to a BSB event before.

He’s raced Cadwell himself, he’s ridden over the Mountain plenty of times, but he’d never actually seen a British Superbike come over it in anger.

Then Ryan Vickers came through.

I was watching Thomas rather than the bike, and as Vickers launched over the Mountain, the look on Thomas’s face was absolutely priceless. ❤️❤️❤️

The only way I can describe it is like a little kid seeing Father Christmas for the first time.

Just complete amazement.

His eyes lit up and for a few seconds he wasn’t Thomas the racer, thinking about lines, braking points, lap times or what he could learn…

He was just a 14-year-old lad who absolutely bloody loves motorbikes. ❤️

And I loved seeing it.

We spend so many weekends rushing around paddocks, fixing bikes, worrying about results, chasing lap times and getting ready for the next session that sometimes you forget why we started doing all this in the first place.

Because we love bikes.

And watching his face when that Superbike flew over the Mountain reminded me of that.

I reckon Thomas has now got a whole new idea of how you’re supposed to go over the Mountain. 😂🏍️💨

Definitely one of those little moments from a race weekend that I’ll remember for a long time. ❤️

What a weekend! 🏁

We had a brilliant time at Cadwell Park for BSB Something a bit different for us and definitely not our normal kind of race weekend, but we absolutely loved it!

We got to talk to loads of people, answer loads of questions and hopefully give a few people the information they needed to either get involved in the sport themselves or come along and watch us at one of our remaining race weekends.

It was great seeing so many people interested in the bikes, asking about Thomas’s racing and wanting to know how to get involved. ❤️🏍️

As you can see from the second photo, Thomas was clearly full of energy by the end of it… 😂😂 Absolutely knackered!

And finally, a MASSIVE well done to Carl Harris on taking his first win today! 🏆👏

We’re good friends with his mechanic Russ Cowling, so Thomas obviously had to go over and have a nosey at the bike…

We’re pretty sure Thomas sitting on it brought Carl that little bit of extra luck he needed! 😂🍀

Seriously though, huge congratulations to Carl, Russ and everyone involved. First win in the bag — mega! 👏🏆

A one-off weekend for us, but a bloody good one! Thanks to everyone who stopped and had a chat with us. ❤️

🏁 WHO’S HEADING TO BSB AT CADWELL PARK THIS WEEKEND? 🏁

We’ll be at the British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park on Sunday, with Thomas’s race bike on display. Thanks to Grassroots to Grand Prix for sorting it

But we’re not just there to show the bike off…

We’d really like to use the opportunity to encourage more youngsters and their families to get involved in motorcycle racing.

We know how daunting it can look from the outside. Where do you start? What bike do they need? What kit? Where can they practice? What championships are available? And probably the biggest question… how much does it all cost?! 😂

We’ve learnt a LOT along the way, so if you’ve got a youngster who watches BSB and dreams about having a go themselves, come over and talk to us.

Ask absolutely anything. We’ll happily share what we’ve learnt, show you around Thomas’s bike and hopefully point you in the right direction.

And of course, if you already follow Medd Racing or just fancy coming over for a chat, please come and say hello! 👋

It’s pretty cool for us too — one weekend we’re racing and the next we’re taking Thomas’s little GP2 along to a British Superbike weekend to hopefully inspire somebody else to give racing a go.

Come find us on Sunday! 🏁❤️

🏁 ROWRAH RACE WEEKEND 🏁

A weekend that started with us playing catch-up ended with Thomas standing on the podium! 🥉

We had to miss Friday practice because of work commitments, which meant we arrived Saturday already on the back foot. There was no Saturday practice to make up for it either — it was straight into Qualifying 1, Qualifying 2 and then Race 1.

We struggled with the GP2 setup throughout both qualifying sessions and Thomas qualified P12.

And importantly, that meant P12 on the grid for EVERY race of the weekend.

By Race 1 we’d finally got the bike into a much better place and Thomas immediately started moving forward, going from 12th to 9th.

Race 2 was another start from P12, this time coming home P10, while continuing to improve his pace and confidence.

Then came the final race…

Starting P12 AGAIN.

This time Thomas put everything together.

P12 ➡️ P3. 🥉🔥

Nine places gained and a podium to finish the weekend!

And the stopwatch tells an even bigger story. When we were at Rowrah in June, Thomas’s best lap was around a 52.5.

This weekend he got down to a 50.4.

Over TWO SECONDS quicker! 🔥

So from missing Friday practice, struggling with setup through both qualifying sessions and qualifying 12th, Thomas had to start every single race from P12 and finished:

Race 1 – P9
Race 2 – P10
Race 3 – P3 🥉
Weekend Overall – P4

Going from 12th on the grid to 3rd in the final race, taking more than two seconds off his previous Rowrah best and finishing 4th overall makes us pretty happy with that weekend.

We kept working, Thomas kept pushing and when everything finally came together, he showed exactly what he could do.

P12 ➡️ P3.
P4 overall.
2.1 seconds faster.
One hell of a way to finish the weekend. ❤️🏁🔥

The most recent episode of The Outside Line Podcast had a little conversation about junior racing in the UK (link in the comments).

A point James Whitham makes that is very fair is it a shame how many people start with the aim of being a MotoGP Champion, and not just the joy of doing it.

From our view one of the biggest issues facing Junior riders is the total lack of exposure. It would be fantastic if a podcast like The Outside Line decided to do a special episode from a FAB-Racing or British Mini Bikes Championship round.

It would be something totally different and also be a massive positive to the industry.

Thoughts James Whitham?

Michael Medd, the people's champ, just pulled off the ultimate upset at Rowrah Fab Racing Championship! Who would've thought those extra pounds would give him the edge he needed against the skinny minis? 😂 On a semi-serious note, the racing was pure fire and our phones are ringing off the hook with Type R engine pre-orders and Bucci F20SM motorcycle requests! 📞💨
