The University of York Croquet Society was conceived on one chilly winters eve within the hallowed walls of James College, York. Semi-professional mountaineer Edward 'Teddy' Farrelly Esq. (see www.edfarrelly.com for details) and aspiring benefits claimant Peter A.G. (an inferior fellow due to the lack of a personal website, obvs.) were discussing the unquantifiable yet undoubtedly profound benefit
s which the sport of croquet bring to society. It was at this point at which Peter A.G. turned to Semi-professional mountaineer Edward 'Teddy' Farrelly Esq. (see www.edfarrelly.com for details) and said, "Dearest Edward, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could share the joy of Croquet with all who wish to have its glory brought down upon them?". To this semi-professional mountaineer Edward 'Teddy' Farrelly Esq. (see www.edfarrelly.com for details) replied, "Oh Peter, what a wonderful idea. Let us spread the message of good sportsmanship, tolerance, respect for women, throughout the merry land of Albion and beyond." That is how the University of York Croquet Society came to be. Today the University of York Croquet Society is the perfect environment in which to fully appreciate the multifaceted splendour of the Sport of Kings. We welcome all from OTC groupies to complete beginners, so come along and have a jolly good day.
