Team Jorvik is an amateur swimming club which provides a family orientated, inclusive environment for young swimmers to achieve their personal swimming goals. We have five squads and train at four pools across York: Archbishop Holgate School, York Stadium Pool, The Mount, Yearsley Swimming Pool. Our swimmers excel under the guidance of experienced and highly qualified coaches who build progressive
training schedules to enable each individual swimmer to reach their potential, while encouraging self belief and the strong team spirit that our club is so proud of. Our competitive and senior competitive squads attend galas regularly (including perfomance-based opportunities to compete at the Yorkshire and North East Regional Championships). Our Viking and Club squads are welcomed to attend competitive galas based on their ability, their preferences and coaches recommendations. Our squad structures are designed to welcome every swimmer into our team, whether they wish to compete regularly, or train and swim purely for enjoyment and fitness. For swimmers who are not yet at club level, our Jorvik Academy Swim School provides Swim England lessons for stages 1-7, delivered by qualified and experienced teaching staff. On completion of stage 7, Academy swimmers are offered the exciting opportunity to trial in our Team Jorvik Vikings squad. We host our popular and successful Jorvik Galas twice a year, welcoming swimming clubs from all over Yorkshire to enjoy competing together. We believe that parental involvement is vital to young people's self worth and the development of a healthy attitude to competitive sports. On this basis, we offer the best quality training and/or official club guidance to our parents and carers, enabling them to confidently take on roles at our Jorvik Galas such as timekeeping and marshalling. We take great pride in offering our families the opportunity to develop their knowledge of competitive swimming rules, which helps parents/carers to support their swimmers to the highest standard, and it is also great fun to be part of the amazing team hosting a hugely popular swimming gala! Led by our paid coaching staff, our club is run by a voluntary committee, supported by a fabulous team of parents and carers.
