Famous for hosting the Benson & Hedges European Tour Event in the 1980's. Fulford Golf Club achieved The Women in Golf Charter status in 2021. It has been well documented, by June Hutt, in 'Golf at the Highest Level', Fulford's centenary history book by Geoff and Jenny Hawkins, of the fantastic golfing achievements of many of the women at Fulford.
- In 1927 Vera Bradshaw competed in the English Championship at Pannal, reaching the 5th round amongst other attributes. She was the first member of Fulford, of either s*x, to win both a regional championship and gain representative honours.
- Fast forward to 1991, Louise Secker joins Fulford from Heworth. Louise was Yorkshire Junior Champion, played for Yorkshire, won the York Championship 10 times and reached the final of the Dunhill Masters at Woburn.
- Fulford was honoured when the inaugural Ladies British Open Championship was held in 1976, the 72-hole event also incorporated the Ladies British Amateur Strokeplay, under-23 and under-19 Amateur Championships.
- In April 2000, Mrs Barbara Saville was the first female to be elected a member of the Board. She went on to become Chair of the Board of Directors in 2001/2.
- In 2021 Tracey Maddison became the first female Chair of Greens at Fulford. Her experience working with the British & International Golf Greenkeepers Association made her a perfect candidate to take on this role.
