Yesterday our First Team took on Wincanton out at South Cheriton.

The game started well with Haydn finding the back of the net with a low shot into the near bottom corner from the edge of the box. Not long after that it was 1-1 after a long range shot caught Darren out in goal as it bounced off the wet surface. In fairness to him, we've not seen or played in wet conditions for what feels like an eternity!

The second half was pretty one sided in terms of momentum in our favour. Despite creating a litany of very good chances as well as seeing a shot tipped onto the post from an Andy Forsey shot that seemed destined for goal! It finished 1-1 which felt disappointing as it could have and probably should have been a better result.

Good Luck to Wincanton United for the season. Both our games against them in preseason have been played in a very good manner and we wish them all the best.

We look ahead now to our opening league game against South Petherton.

⚽️💙 WE’RE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO CALL HOME 💛⚽️

We’re reaching out to our local community because Yetminster United FC is looking for land.

Our ambition is to build something special — not just a football team, but a proper home for our club and our community. A place where players of all ages can play, develop, make friends and create memories for years to come.

We are looking for:

🏡 Land for sale
🤝 Land available to lease
⚽️ Suitable land that could potentially be developed into football pitches and club facilities
đź“Ť Ideally in or around the Yetminster / surrounding area

We understand that finding suitable land is a huge ask, and we’re open to having conversations with landowners, farmers, businesses, organisations or anyone who may have land that could be suitable.

Our goal is to create somewhere that the whole community can be proud of — a home for the Yetties. 💙💛

If you know of any land that may be available, even if you're not sure whether it would be suitable, please get in touch with us or share this post.

Just the Firsts in action tomorrow after a late cancellation for the Reserves.

The firsts are out at South Cheriton this Saturday to play Wincanton United. The Reserves played tomorrows opponents a few weeks back and got beat 6-3 (I think) after being 2-0 up just after HT. Hopefully the Firsts can have a better time of it!

Late catch up of last weekends result.

The reserves headed out to Stoke-Sub-Hamdon to play their reserves. As pretty much every week at the moment, it was a hot day (even with the KO at 10am) and tough to play football on the rock solid pitches. However, in a game on fairly few clear cut chances, we took our opportunities very well and came away 3-0 winners. A big thanks to Stoke for hosting us at short notice. Good luck for the rest of the season!

Our preseason continues tomorrow with an early KO of 10am against Stoke Sub Hamdon at their place. With only the one fixture this weekend, we are taking plenty of people to get some more valuable minutes in the legs for as many as possible.

Both squads travelled out to North Petherton to play their respective first and reserves. Both games were played very competitively, unfortunately, we came out on the wrong side of the result by one goal in both games.

Good luck to North Petherton this season is the Taunton and District League and thanks for hosting us!

Double Header Weekend!

We've done these types of days a few times in the past and they are always great fun as it brings the whole club out to one place. This weekend we're heading to North Petherton where our firsts and reserves will face off against their firsts and reserves.

Midweek Results Round Up

Firsts
The first team travelled across to Halstock for their Chard Hospital Cup fixture. The game was played at a fast pace, with the referee allowing things to flow — a refreshing change.

Halstock took the lead with a free kick that found its way into the bottom corner. Not long after, they were reduced to ten men after a player caught Charlie in the face with his forearm.

From that point on, we created plenty of chances, and eventually levelled through a classic Dicker long throw, with Billy rising highest to flick a header into the far corner.

At full time, the match went straight to penalties. A save and the woodwork denied us on a couple of attempts, while Halstock converted all of theirs. A horrible way to lose any match.

Reserves
The reserves made the trip to Combe St Nicholas for their John Fowler Cup tie. With the heat making game management crucial, things were easier said than done as Combe caused early chaos with long balls before taking the lead after a slight mix‑up between stand‑in goalkeeper Ben Herbert‑Jones and the defence.

We responded quickly: Ryan Thorne played a hopeful ball forward, Tom Colley brought it down beautifully, beat his man, and chipped the keeper from around 20 yards.

Parity didn’t last long, though, as Combe struck twice to go 3–1 up. There was a glimmer of hope when Tom Colley grabbed his second, curling into the far corner after a quick free kick.

Combe added a fourth late on, which proved the final nail in the coffin for our cup run.

Both teams now turn their focus back to pre‑season, with a double‑header friendly against North Petherton’s firsts and reserves tomorrow.
