Clare Hainsworth Equine Tuition

Clare Hainsworth Equine Tuition To provide help with your horse whether it is schooling them on the flat , preparing for competitions ,improving jump technique etc

I have 30+ years of equestrian knowledge which has involved not only working with all types of horses but also schooling/reschooling, breaking and teaching. I have schooled all types of horses that range from your common cob to ex race horses, the type of schooling varies depending on the horse and its problems. Along with schooling I also get great satisfaction in teaching my clients how to schoo

l their horses, helping them to reach their goals whether it is competing in a local competition, going affiliated or just enjoy riding their horse. I have gained my knowledge from years of riding many different types of horses and ponies and having regular lessons myself with all different types of trainers I am currently being trained by advanced dressage rider Amanda Edmonds, and also go to international dressage trainer Adam Kemp .

Jane Surmon had her second lesson today on her 4 yr old mare Annie.
She's been mainly hacking and is now going out solo ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘, and just doing a tiny bit of short sessions in the school.
Jane was a bit unsure of wat to do with her being very hollow in the trot as in the walk shes in a nice contact/outline, after assessing jane trot round, the main problem was pulling back on the inside rein , Annie not going forwards enough , and just a bit of confusion on both parts. I changed Jane's short whip for a longer schooling whip and checked she was happy in walk first with it. we just worked on sending Annie forwards with lots of voice praise as she really picks up on that and loves to please ๐ŸฅฐWHEN she was forward only then can jane just have a little conversation ( feel) through the reins to encourage Annie to accept a contact and work the right way round , also remembering as a youngster to prepare much sooner for things ie turning , corners .We're thrilled to bits with this mare , a credit to Jade Collins who breeds such lovely versatile horses and vicky heal who gave her such a great start to her ridden career when breaking her in ๐Ÿ˜Š, at the end of the session Annie was joining up with me which is such a lovely feeling as you know they've put their trust in you and feel safe.๐Ÿ’–
Well done Jane you did fab today ๐Ÿฅฐxx

FLY STRIKE !
With the pesky flies around it can sometimes cause maggots in a horses sheath where they feast on the sm**ma ( black smelly stuff) rudie has had maggots b4 even though we clean his sheath but trying not to over clean getting rid of the good bacteria
For a couple days he's been kicking up at his belly and out behind , I was certain it wasn't colic as no other signs and eating well but obviously if in doubt always get a vet, I was pretty certain the discomfort was coming from his sheath so me and Debbie Williams have been cleaning it removing sm**ma ,putting hosepipe up which he's been loving and although appeared much happier was still kicking out last night occasionally .
JSB Sheath Cleaning very kindly came out early this morning on her way to her next clients and after a good old root around found this 1 maggot ! She said we must have removed them without realising as we weren't looking in the sm**ma ๐Ÿคข but this 1 maggot was really causing rudie discomfort.
He's a much much happier horse , Jade is so thorough and good at wat she does I'd highly recommend her โ˜บ๏ธA great tip from her is to wear black latex gloves as more likely to see the maggots if tiny and use ky jelly @

Jane Surmon and her young mare Annie's first schooling session yesterday .
Keeping it short and sweet as she's only rising 4 we first did a bit of turn on the forehand on the ground to give her the idea as that is the first thing I personally like to teach them as they learn to move sideways from the leg at the start.
Main focus a contact in both reins, keeping annie out on the track and balance,
Using the small cones on the 4 points of the circle, jane even managed a 20m circle on both reins โ˜บ๏ธ, if like jane you've never bought a youngster on from the very beginning it can be very daunting but very rewarding , although annie is opening her mouth i dont want to use a flash at this point, its all new to her and the bit is a simple french link which we're useing for the cheek pieces to help with steering at the moment and will get a bit to suit her mouth shape and prefererence professionally fitted when shes a little bit established. Jane did a great job and Annie was a superstar ๐Ÿคฉ

After a couple weeks longreining and lunging it was time for Jane to get back on board Annie .
For a 4yr old , wat a star, took it all in her stride , strutting out in front ( longreining is great to get them confident in this way) leaving manny and I trailing on behind ๐Ÿ˜„, lovely to see the big smile on Jane's face ๐Ÿฅฐ

โ€ผ๏ธURGENT MESSAGE TO CUSTOMERSโ€ผ๏ธ

Some parents may not be aware of illnesses that can spread easily between horses and yards. However there is a known outbreak of something called โ€˜stranglesโ€™ near by.

This means all customers will have to sanitise their hands on entry and exit.

There will be a boot dipping facility on the entrance which must be used

If you visit any other yard or horses before coming to Hillview, you MUST change your clothing and wash your hands before coming to the yard.

This illness that speeds between horses can be carried on people and through contact. Therefore we have put procedures in place to prevent anything coming onto our yard.

It is always better to be safe than sorry!

Any questions please ask ๐Ÿ˜

Thank you for your cooperation โค๏ธ

How quickly things can take a u turn .
8 weeks ago rudi was very nearly pts , he'd got a foot abscess that had underrun the sole and due to the pain he must have been experiencing ( although weirdly wasn't very lame at all) he'd stopped eating and drinking , giving himself colic , caused by dehydration and a blockage .Difficult decision s had been made and just before making "that call" he decided to start eating , we had a few days on tenderhooks with checks all through the night, but he wasn't ready to go just yet ๐Ÿฅฐ
Here he is with the wonderful Debbie Williams 8 weeks later doing a pleasure ride , apparently showing off his passage loving life again ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ, thanks to the great vets at Summerleaze Equine Vets including their out of hours, and a brilliant farrier rowland Thompson who's attention to detail is second to none . He's a very lucky horse and so are we to still have him , even if he does wreck anything in his reach ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

This is Annie a 4 yr old mare that I'm helping her owner Jane Surmon to quietly bring on .
Bred by Jade Collins Annie is by Jade's homebred stallion Prince of Ashes , he's a great combination of Akhal-teke , warmblood and thoroughbred , and shes out of a shire mare , so a fantastic sensible head .
Annie was sent away before Xmas to be backed and ridden away , we chose to send her to vicky heal as didn't want her working in an arena but out doing lots of hacking and seeing the world a bit , it was great for jane to go and hack her out whilst there and build a good bond with her. Since coming home she's been turned away to just chill and do a bit of filling out .
We've now just started doing a bit of longreining which I think is so good for them , she's been out on her own L reining and is doing 10/15 mins a couple times a week in the school, main focus standing at the mounting block , and going forwards , she's quite right handed so jane is doing a lot of left carrot stretches and making the circles as big as possible including a lot of straight lines teaching her the importance of the outside rein! huge thank you to Cara Adams for her help whilst I'm off with my ankle , Jane is learning the art of long reining and atm is easier with 2 people and I'm being very entertained watching ๐Ÿ˜†
We'll be spending the summer doing lots of hacking and trailer trips with some basic flatwork , it's a great opportunity for jane and I'm really excited for their future and to be a part of it ๐Ÿฅฐ
