You’re not where you used to be.
But you’re not starting from scratch either.

You’re still capable.
You just need a better approach.

You’ve probably noticed it.

Not all at once.
Just small things.

Feeling a bit stiffer.
Things feeling heavier than they should.
Energy not quite there.

And every now and then:

“I used to be fitter than this.”

Most people ignore it.

And it doesn’t fix itself.

Strength drops.
Confidence drops.
Things get harder.

But here’s what people get wrong.

It’s not just age.

It’s what happens when structure disappears.

And here’s why structure matters more now.

You can’t rely on guesswork.
Or random sessions when you feel like it.

You need something that builds.
Something that’s consistent.
Something that actually moves you forward.

Because your body still responds.

You haven’t lost it.
You’ve just been out of rhythm.

Start small.
Build it properly.
Let things come back.

Because they will.

Think BMB isn’t for you?

Most people have the same thoughts before they start.

“I need to get fit first.”
“It’s not for people like me.”
“It’ll be too intense.”
“It won’t be personal.”

We hear it often.

And almost all of it changes once people walk through the door.

Because what matters isn’t where you start.

It’s having the right environment to build from.

Our community is full of those that prioritize their health & fitness yes, but are working professionals, parents, grandparents…..

We also believe in personal journey.

That’s why our 28 Day Trial exists.

A simple way to start properly.
With support from day one.

Member Testimonial – James Poole

What a boy! We asked James for a testimonial about BMB — a huge inspiration to us coaches as a gent, a dad, a husband, a business owner, a leader and as a member.

Someone we look to for inspiration. His testimonial is an eye-opening read on why even someone so accomplished and who has taken on so many daunting tasks is still completely relatable as a person!

Describe your absolute biggest challenge prior to working with BMB

Physically, probably the hardest things are endurance test marches — hiking long distances with weighted packs across the Brecon Beacons against the clock. This involves camping out in all weathers, carrying everything you need to be self-sufficient in the outdoors and navigating in all conditions, day or night.

Mentally, the time between these challenges was tough — I’d go through phases due to getting bored or because of other strains in life such as overwhelming work commitments and juggling a young family.

Share how that challenge made you feel

Loved it. I love the physical challenge of constantly carrying a heavy pack over hills, and the self-reliance and belief you gain throughout the journey. Looking at a point on the map and thinking “I’ll never get that far”… then a few hours later you’ve reached it and are heading to the next checkpoint.

Explain the other approaches you had tried to achieve your goals

I’ve been through stages of different fitness levels, usually to extremes — like periods of intense kickboxing, running or triathlons. But as you can imagine, these can take a strain on the important parts of life.

Talk about any reservations you had before working with BMB

My mate Dan persuaded me to try it. I didn’t know what to expect — the training was totally new to me and, at first, quite intimidating. It took me a while to come out of my shell because everything was new and I didn’t know what was going on.

I’d never heard of a clean or a sn**ch — it took me a long time to understand what they were and what the point of them was.

From the start though, I loved it. Pushing yourself hard, getting halfway through a workout feeling like you’re hanging on for dear life, then somehow managing to finish it. Every session gives you a boost and reminds you that you nearly always have more to give.

Outline what changed after you started working with BMB

Me and Claire joined together and it’s one of the best things we’ve done. Being part of the same thing has been a real positive for us.

I was instantly hooked on the hard work and satisfaction the classes give you. Over time I started to understand how the weightlifting works and how it fits into the workouts.

I was fairly strong and fit before, but there were times when even the empty bar felt heavy. I’d see others lifting big weights or doing things on the rig and think it was impossible. But if you keep turning up, stay consistent, listen to the coaches and trust the process, it all comes without you even realising.

Share the specific results you experienced

When I started, I thought muscle-ups were the coolest thing in the world — and completely impossible. Now I’ve got them.

The same goes for handstand push-ups and most movements — just keep turning up, follow the process and it happens.

What would you say to someone who is considering starting/ joining BMB

It may seem scary, intimidating or complicated — but it’s not. Spend one session at BMB and you realise the gym is full of awesome people who all want you to do well.

No one is paying attention to what you’re doing, so don’t feel like you’re being watched or judged. Everyone is focused on their own session.

What gave you gained from
from BMB

I get a lot of happiness and satisfaction from BMB. Some days I’m not in the mood to talk — and that’s fine. No one pressures you.

Usually by the end of the warm-up I’ve perked up and I’m having a laugh anyway. There’s a great community — everyone is on the same team and wants each other to do well.

I turn up because it makes me feel good. Getting fit and strong is a great added side effect to the mental health benefits. I’ve made some good friends I wouldn’t have met otherwise, and me and Claire feel like BMB is a big part of our life.

Final words to current and those looking to start.

Just be consistent, trust the coaches and the process, and you’ll be able to do some awesome things.

Thank you James — we’re incredibly glad to have you at BMB and for the way you continue to inspire others around you.

We really appreciate you and your family choosing BMB as your place to train. Let’s see what 2026 holds for you!

Reflections & Gratitude

Most people come to BMB for the training.

To get stronger.
Fitter.
More consistent.

But over time, what people often value most is something else.

The people.

Coaches who take the time to adjust things properly.
Who notice when something’s not quite right.
Who push when needed and hold things back when it matters.

But also the most important people in the room our community 💛🖤

The ones who encourage you mid-session.
Check in when you’ve not been around.
And make it easier to keep showing up.

It’s easy to overlook those things.

But they’re a big part of why people stay.

And why training here feels different.

Something we don’t take for granted, thank you.

If You’ve Been Thinking About Starting — This Is It

Most people don’t need more information.

They already know what they need to do.

Train properly.
Be consistent.
Stop starting and stopping.

What usually holds them back is the step between thinking about it… and actually starting.

At BMB, we’ve made that simple.

Our 28 Day Trial gives you:

A clear starting point.
Coached sessions.
A structured plan.
Support from day one.

No guessing.
No being thrown in.
No pressure to be “ready”.

You just show up.

We’ll take care of the rest.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time, this is it.

Message us.
Book your consultation.
Start your 28 days.

How We Coach at BMB 💛🖤

A lot of people think coaching is just being told what workout to do.

That’s not how we do it.

At BMB, coaching starts before the session even begins.

The programme is planned.
Progressions are mapped out.
Every session has a purpose.

In the room, it looks like:

Adjusting movements to suit the individual.
Correcting technique early.
Pushing when it’s needed.
Pulling things back when it’s not right.

It’s knowing your name.
Your injuries.
Your habits.

And holding you to a standard.

You’re not left to figure it out on your own.

Every session is coached.
Every member is supported.
Everything is done with intent.

That’s how we coach at BMB.

Member of the Month – Emily Wakely 💛🖤

We are proud to announce Emily as our Member of the Month for February!

While we had a few people stand out since the start of the year, Emily came out on top collectively for the coaches.

We asked Emily a little about her journey with BMB and what keeps her coming.

What do you do?
I’m a stay-at-home mum to three energetic kids! I also help and support my husband’s family business.

Age
36

Fitness/sporting background
I have always enjoyed some form of fitness, whether it was horse riding, rowing, or running. Back in 2014, I became a member of CrossFit Bath and I was hooked! The mixture of fitness elements it provided, alongside the community and coaches that come with it, meant there was no going back.

Why BMB Fitness?
The mixture of cardio, weightlifting, and gymnastics is a game changer for me. The variety of every session—and if I’m being honest, I appreciate the session being planned for me and being told what to do! The coaches are brilliant and have been supportive and adaptive in my slow but consistent ‘comeback’ after two knee surgeries and three kids!

How often do you train?
My husband and I take it in turns to do the 6am class during the week. I win… and do three sessions a week!

What differences in yourself have you noticed?
So many changes—obviously fitter and stronger, and I have lost some stubborn weight. But my general wellbeing has improved as a result of partly finding time for myself and doing something I love.

What are your short-term goals in training?
To continue to stay consistent with my training, because that’s where I’ve seen the results.

Other interests?
I love being outdoors by the coast!

Words to newbies
You will never regret starting… you may in the middle of the workout… but you will never regret doing a session!

Well done, Emily, for being an incredible member of BMB—supportive of others, hardworking in sessions, and consistent in training.

We are all really grateful that you and Rich come and train with us at 6am and continue to choose BMB. We look forward to seeing what the rest of 2026 holds for you 😊

What Community Means at BMB

Look around a class at BMB and you’ll see a mix of people.

Different ages.
Different fitness levels.
Different training experience.

Some are lifting for the first time.
Some have been training for years.
Some are building confidence with movements they once avoided.

But none of that changes how people are supported.

Everyone is coached.
Everyone is encouraged.
Everyone works at their own level.

Because community here isn’t about everyone being the same.

It’s about people backing each other, regardless of where they start.

That’s what makes BMB what it is.
