💙A DAY TO REMEMBER FOR WESTLAND SPORTS FC GIRLS 💙

Today marked a huge milestone for Westland Sports FC as our girls’ teams played their first ever league fixtures since the introduction of girls’ football at the club!

Two teams, two tough games, plenty of lessons learned and the start of what we hope will be an amazing journey for girls’ football at Westland Sports FC

U11 – Westland Puma Girls
Westland Puma Girls 🆚 North Curry

A slow start allowed North Curry to get ahead, but the Pumas showed great character to fight back in the second half.

Player of the Match: Amelia, who was brought on after 15 minutes and made a huge impact with her aggressive tackling and crisp passing. Her energy helped spark the fightback and she was a thoroughly deserving Player of the Match!

U13 – Westland Sports Vixens
Westland Vixens 🆚 North Curry

Another tough opening fixture for the Vixens, but plenty of positives to take as the girls begin their league journey.

Player of the Match: Bella

The results might not have gone our way today, but today was never just about the results.

It was about seeing Westland Sports girls take to the pitch in league football for the very first time.

This is only the beginning…

💙SOMERSET GIRLS LEAGUE OPENING DAY! 💙

The wait is finally over… it’s matchday for our Westland Sports FC girls!

The new season gets underway tomorrow, and we couldn’t be more excited to see our girls out there representing Westland Sports FC!

Good luck to our U13 Vixens and U11 Pumas as they kick off their league campaigns, and to all our Westland girls for the season ahead.

Play with pride, work hard, enjoy every minute and most importantly… have fun!

At the complete other end of the spectrum was our U16 Gazelles showing off their new kit before their first game of the season today which ended in a great win for the group ⚽️⚽️

Best of luck to them on their last season in youth football. Take it all in lads, enjoy the season and hopefully we will see them progress into our senior set up in the next couple of years 💪🏻💪🏻

Lots of goals, fun and memories made as the children start their grassroots journeys.

They look awesome in their new kits and hopefully they have many more years of enjoyment ahead of them playing the best game in the world

After a fantastic summer and new teams joining us we start with our biggest ever amount of teams and it's amazing to see so many children wearing the Westland colours 💙💙

U16 Girls Pre-Season Result:
WestlandU16 Girls 4–8 Bridgwater U16 Girls

Alvington played host to JPL Warriors side Bridgwater U16s for a hard-fought pre-season match played in fantastic spirit.

First Half: Emily opened the scoring to give Westland an early lead with a good strike from the edge of the box, Bridgwater rallied to take a 3–1 advantage, but Westland showed great resilience, bringing the game back to 3–4 at the break with goals from Leah with powerful effort and Ruby who reacted fasted to an saved shot from Emily.

Second Half: The high energy continued through a series of squad rotations. Mia scored a great header off a Macie corner to keep Westland right in the contest at 4–5.

The Closing Stages: As fatigue set in during the final 10 minutes, Bridgwater’s quality shone through to seal the 8–4 victory.

This was the ideal pre-season test for our squad against a high-caliber JPL side. The girls showed immense fight, quality, and determination from start to finish.

A massive thank you to Bridgwater United FC Women for a great match and best of luck for the rest of the season!
