🏏DIVISION 2 CHAMPIONS🏏

The 2s are champions of Divison 2 in the Somerset Cricket League and we’re nothing but proud of them. We are very glad to see how much they’ve done in order to get here.

Last year, the 2s struggled for players and as a result, the games didn’t go in their favour and they got relegated to Divison 2. This year, determined to go back to where they belong, they have ended up 1st this season with 500 points. They won 12 games, lost 4 and 2 got cancelled due to rain. With an experienced captain leading the 2s, there was no doubt that they would’ve been competing for the league!

We’re very happy to see this side winning constantly and we wish you the best of luck in Division 1 next season.

🏏MATCHDAY WEEKEND🏏

Final weekend of cricket for the season, and we hope that all 3 teams end on a high as 2 out of the 3 Saturday teams are chasing promotion this season.

🚗 The 1s are away at Taunton Cricket Club for their final game if the season, as they look at finishing on a high.

🏡 The 2s host Burnham-on-Sea Cricket Club in what is a very important game, as a win secures the league for the 2s.

🏡 The 3s are chasing promotion as they host Beaminster Cricket Club 2s. We hope that luck favours us, as they have been brilliant this season.

To all 3 teams, we are very proud of you lot, and we hope you can continue this!

🏏MATCHDAY RESULTS🏏

✅ 1s with a strong win against local rivals North Perrott Cricket Club 1s, with excellent 50s from William Chesterman and Will Hanrahan and an excellent all-round performance from Jack Veale. Great way to finish their home season, and we hope they finish the season on a high note.

✅ 2s with a narrow win in an exciting game away at Ilton Cricket Club, with excellent 50s from Steven Redwood and Gary French, as well as a magnificent 5-fer by Sonny Dennett. With a massive win needed on Saturday, will they win the league?

❌ 3s with a crushing loss to Yeovil Royal Blasters CC, decreasing their chances of promotion. Excellent 5-fer by Ben Potten, who gave us a massive advantage at the start of the game. Hopefully, luck favours them on Saturday as they challenge for promotion.

❌ Sunday XI with a narrow defeat in a run-fest against Milborne Port, with a fantastic 100 from Tom Redwood and a 50 from Darcy Hume. That’s the end of the 40 over season for the Sunday team, and we’re nothing but proud of the young side for being excellent throughout the season.

🏏MATCHDAY WEEKEND🏏

Last two Saturday games of the season, as we have three strong teams playing this weekend:

🏠 The 1s have their last home game of the season, and what a better way to end their home season by playing a local derby against North Perrott Cricket Club 1s in what should be a thrilling contest between two sides!

🚗 The 2s have their last away game for the season as they travel to Ilton to play Ilton Cricket Club 1s. With two wins required for winning the league, the 2s look ready and confident to win this weekend and hopefully next weekend as well!

🚗 The 3s travel to Bradford Abbas to play their last away game of the season as they play a strong Yeovil Royal Blasters CC 2s side, who are also chasing promotion this season! A win can increase our chances of promotion and with this strong team, we’re hopeful that they can do it!

🏠 The Sunday XI play one of their last two games against Milborne Port at home, as they are looking to finish the season on a high!

🏏MATCHDAY WEEKEND🏏

Last few weeks of the season, and all 3 Saturday teams are chasing for promotion with each team having 3 games left. With that in mind, all 3 teams have fielded strong teams for Saturday:

🚗 The 1s are away at Ilminster Cricket Club & The Tony Rice Bar playing against a strong Ilminster 1s side, who are top of the league at the moment. A win would make this promotion challenge more interesting and this will give Yeovil a massive advantage.

🏠 The 2s are at home hosting a strong Cheddar Cricket Club 1s side, who are also chasing promotion. A win would make their chances of promotion and winning the league increase and hopefully luck favours them on Saturday.

🏠 The 3s come back from a strong win at Kilmington, and are hosting Chard Cricket Club 4s, which should be an exciting game. A win for the 3s means their promotion chances will increase and we hope that they get a strong win on Saturday

🚗 The Sunday team will be travelling to Broadwindsor to play their Sunday XI, which should be an exciting game.

✅ The 2s showed their strength by beating Taunton 2s by 6 wickets, with a fantastic ton by Steven Redwood

✅ The 3s are back to winning ways, with a fantastic bowling performance against Kilmington and Stourton 2s, with an exceptional 5-fer from Bradley Shorto.

Struggling for numbers this week as well, however we were still able to set up 3 strong teams for today!

🏡 The 1s, after a strong win away at Wellington, will host a strong Temple Cloud Cricket Club 1s side in what should be an exciting game, with 1s chasing promotion to WEPL Prem 2!

🚗 The 2s, after a fantastic game at home against South Petherton 1s, will go on a drive to Taunton Vale to play Taunton CC 2s in what should be a fantastic game between two strong sides.

🚗 The 3s would be looking to bounce back and look for promotion, after a close game against Castle Cary. The 3s are going to Warminster to play Kilmington and Stourton 2s, which should be an exciting game between two strong sides.

Sunday team will be posted soon, but good luck to all three teams and let’s get 3 out of 3 this week!

🙏 THANK YOU WESSEXME 🙏

We at Yeovil Cricket Club would like to thank Mike Dennett and co. from Wessexme for supporting us on Saturday.

The 2s had a fantastic game down at home, with Mike’s son, Sonny Dennett, scoring an excellent 107* that consisted of 18 fours and 3 sixes. We couldn’t be any more proud of Sonny and we were very happy to see Mike and co. have an excellent day down at the club. We hope you can support us again next time!
