began as a response to grief tenders and grief keepers saying they wanted a place to gather and be resourced. Ash and Seed is a Grief Gathering open to all who mourn at this time 22-25 May at Ruthlands Farm in Herefordshire. Why Ash? Why Seed? The Ash is the Void state after death, that holy suspended silence thick with Presence… it is the moment you inhale their last breath… it’s not the time to be talking, nor philosophising or fussing. It’s a spacious timeless ecstatic state full of longing. In this image the Void or Ash state is represented by my late mothers scrying mirror - a polished black divinatory lens. The pomegranate contains the Seeds; the sleeping potential the possibilities of new life. Not yet taken sprout. I was gifted the pomegranate when working in Orgiva in Spain and I hold it on my altar to remind us of the migration journey of all our Ancesturs from Africa. The shift from the Void to the Seed is subtle almost invisible - at the surface we might not see much change at all. But it’s the million mile pilgrimage from complete despair to the beginnings of Hope. And that is why I named the confest Ash & Seed… Grief and then the Renewal.
