I am heartbroken to hear 11 people have lost their life’s in open water over the last few days. 9 were children.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of their families and friends. Especially the local teenager found in Hawley Lake yesterday.

Cold water shock is a killer. People have heard of it and don’t really understand it. When you fall in to or quickly immerse yourself in water of less than 15 degrees your body gasps for air, your muscles cramp and your heart rate quickens. You need to roll on to your back, ears in the water and try and calm your breathing.

If you do get into cold water, do it slowly. Allow your body time to get used to the change in temperature. Never go alone and ensure you have assessed the risks before you get in.

This coming half term, we will ensure all of our swimmers know about cold water shock, how to float to live and know what ti do in an emergency.

Summer Holidays will be with us soon

Do you want your child to learn to swim or improve their strokes but the cost of classes puts you off? Swimming with us at SPLASH might not be as expensive as you think.

For Summer term 2026 we are offering all of our new swimmers 10% off the final cost of their first term swimming with us and a FREE trial lesson. This means your child can swim for less than £9.50 a class!

We offer small classes of less than six, level 2 DBS checked teachers and a 30 minute class. We have a maximum of three classes running at a time and sole use of the pool offering a calm environment for your child to learn. Our teachers are also experienced teaching children with SEN.

We have lessons for children aged 18 months and upwards, beginners to advanced. Not only do we teach your child how to swim, we teach them personal survival skills and diving.

We swim at Lord Wandsworth College on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Yateley School on Saturday afternoons.

This was a photo that I took last week. As the evenings are starting to get lighter, this was the first sunset of the year that we saw at Lord Wandsworth college 😍
